    A biopic classic!

In 1955,MGM released three powerful and popular musical biopics about legendary female singers:"I'll Cry Tomorrow",the gut-wrenching story of Lillian Roth, starring a brillaint Susan Hayward;"Love Me Or Leave Me", a vivid portrait of Ruth Etting, starring Doris Day in her best performance;and this classic."Interrupted Melody" is the memorable and uplifting true story of Austrailian opera star Marjorie Lawrence, who overcame a poor farm childhood and later triumphed over polio that nearly destroyed her.William Ludwig and Sonya Levien's beautifuuly written script is brilliantly brought to life by director Curtis Bernhardt. The musical numbers are outstanding, and the soundtrack is gorgeous, with favorite arias and popular songs all magnificently performed by Eileen Farrell(who dubbed Parker).MGM's usual big-budget Technicolor production helps big-time.And then there is the brilliant cast.Glenn Ford is in top form as Lawrence's loving doctor husband, and Eleanor Parker is simply magnificent in her most memorable role. The supporting cast is excellent, including Cecil Kellaway and a young Roger Moore. This is biography at its best!Enjoy!
