Ballywood, Ireland is a town with a cash flow problem; but the citizens aren't about to go down without a fight. With the banks set to foreclose and the future looking grim, the citizens of Ballywood decide to save their town by staging a poetry contest and using the entry fees to keep the moneymen at bay. Meanwhile in Los Angeles, hustler Jimmie (Griffin) is having a hard time shaking off hungry bill collectors and a jilted lover with a mind for marriage. His options dwindling and his future looking increasingly grim, Jimmy determines to use his gift for gab to take home the top prize at the Ballywood poetry contest and leave both the collectors and his clingy girlfriend at a loss for words.

    Anna Friel Does It Again!!!

Those of you out there thinking this will be just another run-of-the-mill fish out of water in Ireland stories will be pleasantly surprised. This is a rare film that manages to combine two very different genres into a well-woven mesh of humor and genuine emotion. Anna Friel heads the cast sporting an authentic Irish accent. The story centers on a small Irish village under the threat of corporate buy-out. In an attempt to stop the town from going under, they hold a contest in America, of which the winner will receive the local pub as a grand prize. Guess who shows up?! I don't want to ruin the surprise for those of you who have not seen the film yet, but suffice it to say that the outcome is both hilarious and heartwarming. Both the town and its new inhabitant are changed profoundly by the experiences we as viewers watch take place. A close friend of mine has already begun a book in which she documents the making of the film from its origins through the release party in London. There is no doubt in my mind that in ten years we will see IRISH JAM show up on AFIs Top 100 Films list. This is a film the whole family can enjoy. . .just be prepared for a few tears. The cinematography is beautiful, the music is sublime, Miss Anna Friel looks amazing, and then at the end there is a screen you can lick and it tastes like Kool-Aid!!!
