James Dean

( 4 )

Overview

During his all-too-short career three starring roles in two years, James Dean helped to radically redefine the way teenagers were portrayed onscreen and in popular culture in general, and the expressive naturalism of his performances did more to establish the "method" school of acting in the public mind than any other actor outside of Marlon Brando. James Dean is a made-for-cable biography that looks at the star's short but troubled life, his years of struggle before his sudden rise to fame, and the car crash that took his life at the age of 24. James Franco stars as James Dean, with Michael Moriarty as Winton Dean and Valentina Cervi as Pier Angeli, the actress Dean loved. Produced for the TNT cable network, James Dean first aired on August 4, 2001.

NO ONE COULD HAVE DONE THIS MOVIE BETTER

Even though I'm only 27, I'm a huge James Dean fan so when I saw this movie it totally blew me away. James Franco didn't just portray James Dean, he became him. I don't think anyone else could have gotten his quirks and mannerisms as well as Franco did and I totally recommend this movie.

    James Franco is awesome

James Franco is wonderful as James Dean and in the Spiderman movie.I did see flaws in the film but I won't say because I will give away too much about my James Dean song if I write about it.James Franco is every bit as good as James Dean if he is not playing himself in the 2 roles of him that I saw. Vincent Van Gogh is the most awesome rebel of protestant culture yet.

    Like seeing Jimmy alive again!

The half biography half fiction account of the meteoric rise of America's first rebel James Dean. 'Freaks and Geeks' star James Franco brilliantly portrays James Dean, attitude as well as looks and the always affective Michael Moriarty gives a superb performance as Winton Dean, James' father. Mark Rydell also turns a double bill directing this movie and giving a good performance as Jack Warner. Beyond that, this movie stayed true to James and Franco did a superb job capturing Dean's wild antics and quirky soul.
