Unfortunately, this TV movie does not; at 2 hours, there just isn't enough time to do justice to Michener's sprawling novel. James Michener's Dynasty is worth noting for the supporting-cast contributions of Amy Irving and Harrison Ford.

what to say first... this movie stinks with incompletion.

The movie is ok. It would definately be better if the rest of the movie was also available. I know Michner movies and they are at the very least 5 solid hours worth of movie like Hawii. And from the picture on the cover it show a definate age diffrence in the characters from their ages in the actual movie to the cover. So what I see is that a company released an incomplete mini-series and thats just annoying.

    Absolutely awful!

This DVD is of such a low quality that I wondered if it was a counterfeit, except that no one is likely to waste the time and effort on counterfeiting a film taken from an old TV series, which appears to have been drastically shortened to the point where the story disappears. Even Readers Digest condensed books follow a story more faithfully. The picture is not sharp and the color is badly faded into red. It was an endurance test to sit through it. At least the end brought a sense of relief.
