It's a wonderfully acted production. Is a lot better than the american version of Jane Eyre. The movie bring's Charlotte Bronte's charactors to life. Lovely.

This movie ia a story of love, deceit, and mystery. Jane Eyre was a young woman who grew up in an orphanage, and was later hired as a governess at the Thornfield estate. Although there are certain problems with the master of the house, Mr. Rochester, he manages to steal the young Jane's heart. After some time of ''courting'', both Jane and Mr. Rochester confess their love for each other and decide to marry. However, due to a secret locked away in a wing of the Thornfield estate, their marriage was ruined. The many twists and turns in this movie make it an interestingly intriguiging hour and a half to watch. This movie is non stop romance. It really allows the watcher to sympathize with the main character. This remake of Jane Eyre is one of my favorites. You'll love to watch it again and again!

I know it's difficult to do justice to a great book when its translated to film but this was the worst I've ever seen. I'm sorry I wasted my money. Much of the book was left out and what was included was often changed enough to make it barely recognizable. This one goes in the garbage.

I absolutely LOVE the book, and I've seen 4 film adaptations so far, and this one is crap. I am a big fan of Ciaran Hinds, but this was not his best role. He was too rough and shouted too much! Samantha Morton doesn't understand her character at all. She is too meak and lacks passion-which by the way is a MUST for her character. She is described in the novel as a passionate character, and when I saw this woman meakly speak the words that should have come out like a torrent as she names herself Rochester's equal, I cringed. If you want a faithful and decent adaptation to a beloved classic, I recommend that you buy the 2006 BBC version or the 1983 one. They are way better and the acting is SO much better. This version is a joke!

This classic story remains available invarious versions. Each one tells Bronte'stale with the basic plot, sometimeseliminating certain scenes for the sake oftime. It all then boils down to which actorsand actresses one prefers in the lead roles. Most of the time, I would take the actressfrom one and team her with the actor fromanother to make my own duo. In this version,Samantha Morton is perfectly cast. I'm notcertain Ciaran Hinds, whom I like, is theperfect Mr. Rochester. Still, this is a top notch production, recommended as akeeper. Buy ALL versions and then comparethem to see how you would cast and directthe absorbing story!

This version of Jane Eyre is also my favorite second only to the one with Timothy Dalton "love the one on one conversation in that one, truedialogue and dialect and it gives you a sincere appreciation for communication. However, Ciarian Hinds and Samantha Morton have an unbelievable chemistry, wonderful dialogue also - one so much that you wish Ms. Bronte would have written specifically more detail of their marriage after overcoming. Samantha Morton brings her heart to the role and Mr. Hinds is very commanding as Mr. Rochester.

If you are a true fan of the novel than I don't recommend you watch this version. It is well made but A&E has tried to cram a book with so many details into a little under two hours. Not to mention leaving out some critical aspects of the story. I have to give credit to Morton and Hines for attempting to bring some dimensionality to their respective characters. In order to have an accurate and faithful retelling of the book it has to be longer than two hours. I guess that's why many movies that have been adapted from books fail because they have not been given the time they deserve to accurately tell it. If you want to be entertained in the least, this movie will do that for you.

This movie was a very good rendition of Jane Eyre. It is not extremely faithful to the book, but it conveys all the main points of the novel. If you are looking for a word for word enactment of Jane Eyre, I would recommend the Timothy Dalton version. This version of Jane Eyre was romantic and Ciaran Hinds was an amazing Mr. Rochester. If you like Jane Eyre, I would definately buy this version.

So far I have seen four different film adaptations of Jane Eyre and I have liked them all but this is by far my #1 favorite version. Samantha Morton and Ciaran Hinds are superb as Jane and Rochester and they had great chemistry. I think that they adapted this quite well in what little time they had in a 2 hour movie adaptation.

I found this version to be disquieting. Mr. Rochester is way to harsh and extremely abusive towards Jane, it makes you wonder how he will treat her after marriage. My sister and I were just glad he didn't beat her bloody! I recomend the one with Jane played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, the characters are much more believable!

I am a big fan of the book, and although I very much liked this movie, I dont think it was completely true to the story. The acting was great, but I just thought that some wonderful scenes were missing to make it great. For those of you who have read the book will find that it is not as good as the book, but it is still entertaining.

This is a beautiful adaptation, but I was continually perplexed by the liberties taken with the dialogue and manner of the characters-- if you are a devotee of the book, you will be surprised by the seemingly purposeless alterations. It seemed to me that much of the beauty of Bronte's prose is lost, and without that touch the plot loses much of its power. The characters lose much of the depth that makes them interesting-- Jane I found to be too inquisitive and dramatic, while Hind's portrayal of Rochester lacked the subverted warmth that gave him humanity in the novel.

I have seen most of the versions and this is the best version so far. Jane and Mr.Rochester are played so well by (Samantha Morton and Ciaran Hinds). I felt like I was reading the book. Especially Mr.Rochester's character as the proud, sarcastic, comanding, brooding and mysterious owner of Thornfield was captured very well by Hinds. It was a very touching movie!

This adaptation has no real character development, and what little there is is not very faithful to the book. For anyone unfamiliar with the book, it might be a so-so movie, but if you have read it, SKIP this version! It will only leave you saying ''why?'' at the end.

Morton and Hines were perfect for the parts. Outstanding acting! (And they looked the part better than other adaptation I've seen.) My problem was the screen play which was disappointing in key moments. Like after the fire, when they know they're in love, Rochester came across like a dirty old man and Jane panted way too much! But, its not a total bomb, I liked it enough to purchase it.

If you've read the book, this movie would appal you. It left out very importan parts, while the actors were very gifted, they just didn't have the right materials to work with. I'll have to wait till the right movie comes along
