Opposites truly attract in Jeeves & Wooster, the television adaptation of P.G. Wodehouse's comic stories about the bright servant who unfailingly rescues his dim master from the most sticky social predicaments. A delightfully dry and cutting play on class structure and manners, the series, which ran for 23 episodes over 4 seasons, featured one of England's greatest comic duos: Stephen Fry as the unflappable Jeeves and Hugh Laurie as dunderheaded Bertie Wooster and quickly won over a faithful international audience. The 6 episodes of the program's 1991 second season found Bertie and Jeeves doing everything from recovering a very special cow creamer in "The Silver Jug" to seeking out a spouse in "Wooster with a Wife." More hilarity is of course provided in the season's intervening episodes, "The Bassetts' Fancy Dress Ball," "The Con," "Chuffy," and "The Mysterious Stranger." Jeeves & Wooster's complete second season makes a great companion piece to the complete first season 5 episodes, which is also available on DVD.
