Overview

Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie's third season as the famous Jeeves and Wooster comes to DVD with this two-disc set. All six episodes from that season -- "Bertie Sets Sail, "The Full House, "Introduction on Broadway, "Right Ho, Jeeves, "Hot Off the Press, and "Comrade Bingo" -- are presented in a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed captions on this release. Supplemental materials include a biography of author P.G. Wodehouse. This is a very entertaining set from A&E.

Britain's favorite odd couple is back: Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie remain perfect comedic foils, reprising their roles as Jeeves -- the chivalrous, overly protective butler -- and Bertie Wooster, his generous, albeit slow-witted master. When it premiered in 1990, Jeeves and Wooster garnered critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, quickly building a loyal fan base. The tales, based on the writings of P. G. Wodehouse, are a brilliant satire of Britain's class system, and Fry and Laurie are absolutely divine as they repeatedly turn the classic notion of master and servant on its head. In this two-volume, six-episode series, the duo dazzle in such episodes as "Right Ho, Jeeves," wherein Gussie Fink Nottle is arrested for searching for newts in Trafalgar Square's fountains, and "Comrade Bingo," which sees Bingo Little masquerading as a communist to win a woman's heart. For those in need of a good long laugh, a few hours with Jeeves and Wooster is a wondrous elixir.
