Overview

When Jimi Hendrix was booked to close the final day at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969, no one knew it would become the most talked about rock festival in history and a pivotal moment for an entire generation. However, when it came Jimi's time to play, he certainly rose to the occasion. This video captures Hendrix's blazing set at Woodstock (which, due to the festival's many delays, ended up happening Monday morning rather than Sunday night). Along with his justly famous interpretation of "The Star Spangled Banner," the set includes "Fire," "Red House," "Purple Haze," "Izabella," "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and other selections.

This video is a must for any Hendrix Fan. It displays his virtuoso guitar work up close and personal while capturing the electricity that was the Woodstock festival. If you wanted to show someone a video showing what Hendrix was all about, this would be the one to show them.

If you have a DVD and love Hendrix, get this DVD. The up close camera work shows the virtuoso at his best. Truely amazing to watch his hands work the strings. Keep an eye on that right thumb. Amazing!!

Here it is, the one and only Jimi Hendrix, if your like me you are still asking yourself, why did he have to die so long ago, but even after his death, 30 years later, no body has caught up with him, they are not even in the building. If you want to play Hendrix, no books required, they are no good, you get videos and copy his hands. Then you are playing Hendrix!

I hadn't seen any Hendrix videos for a number of years. This one is a real treat. It's hard to believe how good the man really is. As Pete Townsend said ''when I watch Jimi play I feel so incredibly free'' This one is a must for all Hendrix fans and music lovers!

Ther are many great things to say about this Blu-ray release, The fact that it is Blu-ray, you get the opportunity to experience the concert as if you where the camera man! And because most of the camera men are on stage, its the closest to being there! You get a real good sense of Jimi's directing abilities. He was taking this band to new territory, so you where getting a multi facetted performance from Jimi alone! Billy Cox on Bass joins The Experience. He is Funky-er then Noel Redding and lays down a driving low end. You can't help to play well with this strong foundation. Mitch Mitchell is exceptional! This is a great documented performance, it belongs in every true fans collection. I like how its persented as well, bringing in Michael Lang, one of the men behind Woodstock to recollect. It wasn't the preferred time for Jimi to go on and Roy Rodgers as it turns out, would have been the closer if Michael had his way! That's a new bit of information! So I reccommend it! I knew we where on to something back then, this helps confirm it!! FrankDeFonda
