It's wonderfully sad... touching, passionate, erotic, and true. The story flows very well from scene to scene. Each scene seems more unbelievable. If we all only gave half this much love in our relationships as Juana, the world would be a better place.

The movie is based on the plight of Joanna the Mad of Spain...the history is truly a fascinating study of political intrigue and gendered understandings of mental illness in the Spanish monarchy. If the script were better it would have highlighted all the things that conspired against the young queen.
