Overview

Following up his blockbuster action hit Mr. and Mrs. Smith, director Doug Liman turns to an entirely new genre -- sci-fi -- for this tale of an underground world of teleporters. Based on the novel by Steven Gould, Jumper concerns David (Hayden Christensen), a young man who quite literally wills himself away from his grim family life by teleporting to another place with the power of his mind. Years later, David is using his powers to raid bank vaults, seduce girls in London, lunch on the pyramids, and surf in Fiji. But he soon discovers that he is not the only one bestowed with this unique gift, and all is not well in the world of jumpers. There are people out there, such as Roland (Samuel L. Jackson), who view jumpers as a threat to all humankind, and have made it their mission in life to eliminate them. After jumping back to Michigan to get reacquainted with his long lost love, Millie (Rachel Bilson), David makes the acquaintance of experienced jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell). Informed by Griffin of a secret between jumpers and a shadowy group that seeks to destroy them, the pair soon finds themselves facing off against a legion of murderous opponents who won't stop fighting until every last jumper has been eliminated.

In Jumper the whole story is based around the idea of trusting those that are close to you no matter what. I believe anyone should read this book because it teaches this important lesson that everyone should learn. The story is about how david finds out that he has the ability to transport away from danger so he goes throughout the whole book he goes around jumping so that he can survive and get money by theft and the meets another like him and they have to escape those that are trying to kill him. IN the end he gets away from these killers that kill those like him and then he goes to visit his mother that he hasn't seen since he was a child. This is must read story because it teaches you these need to know lessons that will help you with your overall life. Be sure to pick this book up next time you are shopping.

Before seeing this movie, I already knew the critics hadn't been particularly kind when it come out in theaters, but I figured it was up my alley and would give it a shot. While the effects are pretty cool, the plot is fairly subpar. Things with Roland seemed to be building up to a big showdown, but the actual end of the conflict was a letdown. Then the whole thing with his mother was just sudden and rather jarring. I really wanted to like it, but the whole experience was a bit hollow at the end.

Hayden is the hottest ever in this movie, although his acting is still subpar, like in Star Wars, he conveys his emotions better and truly found his place in the sci-fi genre. Rachel does a great job as well but at times seems to emotionless. It's a good action movie for both guys and girls.

i really liked this movie. yeah, it's not what everyone was expecting "not the thrilling, on-the-edge-of-your-seat, action-packed sci-fi movie in the world"even so, it's funny, has pretty cool fight scenes, and not bad acting. i would recommend this movie, but as always, rent before you get it! if you don't like it then thank god you didnt buy it!

I thought it was a time travel movie, but it is about moving from place to place... so more like "time jumping" - a different idea and I really enjoyed it. I was glued to the screen for the whole movie. I loved the action and suspense! There is a bit of a twist I did not see coming. So all in all a unique idea for a story, much needed in this age of "no new ideas". I don't know the young actors, but they were very good!
