Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
A provocative, bestselling novel by Michael Crichton provided the impetus for three of moviedom’s most memorable and profitable sci-fi adventures, now collected in this DVD box set that is loaded with sensational special features. In the series opener, Jurassic Park, billionaire Richard Attenborough brings paleontologists Sam Neill and Laura Dern to his lush island paradise, a huge amusement park overrun with living dinosaurs grown from microscopic DNA remnants. Director Steven Spielberg dips deep into his cinematic bag of tricks to make the ensuing two hours an action-packed thrill ride that brims with breathtaking stunts and astonishing special effects. The realistic-looking raptors return in The Lost World: Jurassic Park II, a Spielberg-directed sequel reuniting Attenborough with Jeff Goldblum, a supporting player in the original but now elevated to leading man. When girlfriend Julianne Moore investigates another assortment of dinosaurs on a second island, Goldblum reluctantly tags along -- and finds himself imperiled once again by the newly created creatures. As in the previous film, Spielberg’s mastery of suspenseful storytelling technique is immeasurably enhanced by spectacular special-effects work that makes the dinosaurs seem absolutely real. Sam Neill, who sat out Part II, resurfaces in Jurassic Park III as the intrepid scientist whose knowledge of the original park and its scaly residents proves invaluable to a married couple William H. Macy and Téa Leoni desperately searching the island for their missing son, apparently stranded there following a parasailing mishap. Director Joe Johnston Jumanji, an old hand at effects-laden adventure movies, establishes his characters in leisurely fashion. But once the principals hit the island, the action begins with a bang, after which the pace picks up and never slackens. Johnston explains many filmmaking secrets in his commentary for the DVD edition, which also includes a making-of documentary, a montage of behind-the-scenes footage, photo and storyboard galleries, and alternate theatrical trailers. The Jurassic Park and Lost World discs are stocked with their own making-of programs, art and photo galleries, deleted scenes, production notes, trailers, and DVD-ROM content.

    all 3 movies were fantastic

i thought that all 3 movies were excellent.jurassic park was an excellent film and had many dinosaurs and a good plot. the lost world jurassic park II was also an excellent movies but i felt that it didn't really relate to the other 2 films as much. but it still had a good plot and was excellent but i think it would have been better if sam neill was the in it and the main star of the film. Also i feel that the velociraptors should have played a bigger role and there should have been more dinosaurs and there should have been more dinosaurs and scenes in san diego. Jurassic park III was also really good in plot and dinosaurs just like the other 2 and i felt that it related more to the first film than the second because of sam neill and jurassic park and jurassic park III weren't dark like the lost world. The one thing that bothers me is how the spinosaurus took over as the main dinosaur. i think that the t-rex should have killed him and i think that most people would prefer the tyrannosaurus rex more than the spinosaurus. But i would still give each movie 5 stars.

    The Jurassic Park Trilogy

Jurassic Park was one of the better movies I have seen. With great special effects and sound it was a must see. The Lost World was as good but I still enjoyed it. The dinosaurs were more ferocious and it had a darker tone. Jurassic Park 3 was not as good as either and had no plot. The Kirby's were annoying but the dinosaurs saved the movie from being a total sleeper.

    Forget About Jurassic Park III

Jurassic PArk and the Lost World were great sci-fi action movies that went well together but they should've just left JP3 out of the set because the only it has in common with the other two is dinosaurs and Sam Neill.

    jurassic park III-AN OK movie

this was an ok movie, even though i think the raptors in this film lost their ferocity, AND I THINK T-REX COULD HAVE KILLED SPINOSAURUS.
