Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
One of Cartoon Network's most popular animated series is this sophisticated update of ABC's 1978 series Challenge of the Super Friends, featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Flash, and Hawkgirl as the galaxy's greatest crime-fighting alliance. This DVD contains a pair of two-part episodes, beginning with "Paradise Lost." Here, Wonder Woman proves the maxim that you can't go home again when she returns to her native island, only to find it under the spell of sorcerer Felix Faust (voiced by Robert "Freddy Kruger" Englund). In "War World," aliens capture the Man of Steel, and a tyrannical warlord (voiced by Eric Roberts) forces him into gladiator-style combat to decide the fate of a planet. Superman and Batman are the most iconic figures of the bunch, but this series gives Flash all the good lines. When he rhapsodizes over the prospect of visiting Wonder Woman's Amazon paradise, Manhunter remarks that he fails to see the attraction. Flash responds, "Man, you really are from Mars."

    AWESOME INDEED!

I love this show! Wonder Woman kicked some serious butt in this episode! It was equally funny to see her kick Superman's butt! I love everything about this show and I can't wait for them to make more new epidoes!
