Overview

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and more join up to stop the forces of evil in the animated movie Justice League. Warner's work on this 1.33:1 full-frame transfer is fair to mediocre. While the color patterns and black levels all appear solid and well saturated, there tends to be an excessive amount of artifacting and edge enhancement in the image. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital Stereo in English and is passable for the film it supports. While the directional effects are kept to a bare minimum, there is no excessive distortion or hiss present during any of the soundtrack. No subtitles or alternative soundtracks are available on this disc. The extra features are fairly slim, including a few character biographies on the superheroes, a list of the cast and crew, and a few theatrical trailers for other Warner family DVD titles.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Heroes are not hard to find in Cartoon Network's top-rated animated series, a 21st-century reunification of the old Super Friends as an all-star supergroup. The caped comrades include Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Hawkgirl, Wonder Woman ("the rookie with the tiara"), and Martian Manhunter -- and naturally, they require a formidable opponent in this 60-minute, series-launching adventure. Their challenge comes in the form of an alien invasion worthy of Welles's War of the Worlds. Flash gets most of the good lines, but Batman does get off a couple of good zingers. When Superman departs at one point because he is needed in Metropolis, the Caped Crusader inquires, "Another key to the city?" With its awesome action, way-cool alien beasties, and who's who roster of DC Comics heroes, Justice is in a league of its own.

From the creative forces behind Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond comes the animated adaptation of Justice League, one of comicdom's original supergroups. In this one-hour offering, the series' Cartoon Network debut, superhero stalwarts Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Hawk Girl, and Martian Manhunter are pitted against some nasty aliens. It's a rollicking ride of good versus evil and the perfect kickoff for a fan-friendly series.
