Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
The three final seasons/series of Keeping Up Appearances provide the show's singular star, Patricia Routledge, ample opportunities to induce cringing with her hilarious efforts to climb the social ladder. As Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "boo-KAY"), Routledge scores again and again, inflicting mirthful damage upon the British class system while maintaining her clueless dignity. This four-disc set includes Seasons 3 and 4, which aired in the U.K. in the autumn of 1992 and '93, respectively, and the final season, which followed in the fall of '95.

I have never been a great fan of British humor, but Keeping Up Appearances is absolutely hilarious. Poor Hyacinth tries to be in the proper upper class, but always ends up on the short end of the stick. She henpecks her husband, Richard, but her husband always supports her regardless of her constantly reminding him of his imperfections.

I have always liked Keeping Up Appearances. It always makes me laugh. The trouble Hiacinth gets into is always so funny. I recommend it to anyone who might like I Love Lucy. They are on the same slap stick type of comedy.
