George Lucas produced and Jim Henson directed this gothic fantasy which pits living and breathing actors Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie (who, along with Trevor Jones, provides the film's music) against a motley collection of Muppet monsters. The film centers upon teenage Sarah (Connelly), who lives in a fantasy world of myth and magic, evil spells, and wondrous enchantment. She is baby-sitting her little brother when she cavalierly wishes that goblins would take him away. She gets her wish, and a coterie of goblins abduct him. She then encounters Jareth (David Bowie), the ruler of a mystical world one step removed from reality. He tells Sarah that the only way to get her brother back is to find her way through a M.C. Escher-like labyrinth and find the castle at the center. As she makes her way through the maze, she faces a number of horrific challenges (like the Bog of Eternal Stench) before she finds her way to the gravity-defying castle, where her brother is being held by the evil goblins.

I saw this movie like 10 years ago when I was twelve, it still wonderfull to me thought, and if you like fantasy, other world, charm, and good stories, everything is here!!!
If you can get past the fact that the movie probably isn't 'cool', you'll find a movie that is very watchable and funny. Both of my kids love it, and it's one I don't mind watching, either.
For my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom is as great. Sarah: Damn I could never remember that line. Then she looks at Jareth and says " You have no power over me." Who doesn't remember this movie when they were young and not get tired of it? I remember my brother and I watched this a lot when we were younger and then forgot about it years later. I then saw a vid on youtube and thanks to that it got me interested in seeing the film again. My bro and I watched it again and notice some stuff like of how in the beginning you clearly see the books and toys that Sarah have with the creatures that later appear in the Labyrinth to the face of Bowie on 3 seperate pieces of a rock thing where Hoggle is given the peach by Jareth. Something always bugged me when I was watching a scene particulary the ball room scene. Did anyone noticed one of the dancers (besides Jareth) who wore a long hat and long nose type mask was always following/stalking Sarah? Moving on, this is the story of a girl who learns i guess grow up while trying to get back her baby brother after wishing him away and makes friends along the way. Hoggle had good character development from a cheat to a coward to a brave and loyal friend. Ludo is adorable and Sir Didymus was awesome. Jareth what more to say he's freaking awesome good or bad (prefer bad LOL). Sarah seemed a little childish and bratty but still you got to admit that dress was pretty. Jareth was cocky, sexy and yet in pain like he longed for something more...I wasn't sure why many believe that Jareth loved Sarah. It seemed like he was just distracting her so she could forget about Toby but hey us fans can dream can't we? The songs were good especially Underground and Within You. Fave scenes has to be any scene with Jareth (especially the ballroom and escher staircase scene). I always wondered what would happen after Sarah returns to her world and am happy to tell ya that there is a sequel (its a manga actually). Movies like Labyrinth are to bring out our imagination and this does just that. Watch Labyrinth with your kids or friends or family, its still a classic and will never be old.
I was totally captivated by this fantasy & never tired from watching it again and again. Jim Henson's a brilliant artist and redefined entertainment for kids and adults - his imagination and storytelling blend a totally original style of playfulness, darkness and humor which had me hooked.
good thing this movie is in stock. My sister loves this movie. Its her favorite and you know what ? I quite enjoy it myself. My sisters all time favorite movie. cool movie oh and Toby is so cute.
For anyone who is a fan of Jim Henson. This is a fun movie for anyone at any age. David Bowie is Jareth the Goblin King who obeys the wish of Sarah, played by Jennifer Connelly. Sarah wishes her step brother away due to her being annoyed at having to babysit him. She doesn't realize that her made up story of a land where goblins live, ruled by their king. When wished to the goblins will come a take wished away children to live with them. Realizing her mistake and finding out she really does care for her young step brother Sarah is taken to Jareth's world where she will have to run a labyrinth. If she can reach the end before time is up then her and her brother can go home. If not then her brother will become a goblin.
Sarah wishes for her baby brother away and the Goblin King grants her wish. She realizes what she's done and has to rescue Toby. Along the way she finds friends in Ludo, Sir Didymus and eventually Hoggle. The songs are great. The acting is good. A beloved imaginative classic that the whole family can watch.
I saw this movie, and I was amazed. The Labyrinth is so amazing! The way everything is¿it's hard to describe¿I can just say it was magical!
Travel into a world of fantasy where nothing seems possible and everything is possible. By buyinth ''Labyrinth'', you take a jurney into the mind of a teennage girl named Sarah (Jennifer Connelly). Sarah has always been into fairy tales and magic...but she always had one favorite book....''Labyrinth''. She would always recite the words...until one night that was. She wishes for the goblins to take away her baby brother, and the goblins do so. Now Sarah (Connelly), has to travel her way through the labyrinth. She needs to get to the center, to the castle, to get her brother from Jareth (David Bowie), the Goblin King. With challenges like the Bog of Eternal Stench and the Oubliette ect, Sarah still won't give up. Jareth (Bowie) needs to think of more to stop her. There are much laughs and even some thrills is the smash hit ''Labyrinth''....buy it!

I have this movie on taped since it first came out and i enjoy watching it time and time again. It's amazing on how they can put a movie together the way they did and make it come to life with the charaters to do all those different things. Thank you (rcf ny)
I have always loved this movie, ever since it came out. It has affected so many things in my life. Jareth is the ultimate likeable villain (David Bowie, need I say more). The songs will always make you happy, except for ''As the World Falls Down,'' which could make you cry if you are a sentimental sap like me. All the songs seem to fit. I love Sarah's character, whom I can identify with, as can many others. I love Hoggle, Ludo, Sir Didymus, and Ambrosius, even the fireys. Chilly down with this movie, you will love it.
Like most of these reviews, I was fascinated by this movie as a child, and am thrilled to have it on DVD now. My favorite character by far: Ludo!! he's adorable..
Hi, Im from Denmark. I saw Labyrinth when I was about 7 or 8. I was fascinated from the first time. I never saw the begining, and thats why I think I kept looking for this movie in stores and in the weekly tv-guide. I did that for years, untill a month ago or so. I bought the movie in a fantastic store. The guy had orderd it home for another guy, but he never came and picked it up, so I got it! Lucky me! Labyrinth is my very favorite movie. I love it so much. The movie was never realied in Denmark, so it was pure luck that I got it!! I have seen it for sooo many times now, and I still love it. I got the soundtrack too, and i LOVE As the world falls down. Oh god, that look in Bowies eyes, in the scene were they are dancing, him and Sarah. Its soo beautiful, sweet and a little bit sad too. This movie is a movie you got to watch. but if you dont like magic and wird things and stuff like that, I dont think its a movie for you. Anyway, I love it! I dont even want people to borrow it... They may hurt it.... Watch it! I wish I could givce it 10 stars... And 20 to Bowie.
I have always loved this film! And like others have said, David Bowie makes the ultimate bad guy. You must watch it
Hey i'm 14 and i have always loved this movie ever sincee i was 2!! my mom introduced me to this movie and it have been one of my absolte favorites!!! This is an everybody movie!! it has everything. action, adventure, romance, thrills, chills, it's a roller coaster of emotions.
I purchased this movie several years ago, and have watched it a number of times. This summer my granddaughter has been staying with me, and she has watched it at least 8 times since the beginning of July. It is the all time ''lets pretend''movie, Sarah(Connelly) the ultimate princess, and no one could surpass the excellent job done by David Bowie as Jareth. You want to hate him, but you have to love him. I have planned to get a copy of the movie for the granddaughter for her collection. Between Henson and Lucas, they weave the magic web to make-believe. Great movie
