Editorial Reviews

Newark Star-Ledger - Bradley Bambarger
1/2 The production reinforces the opera's brutishness, reducing the scenery to cages and amplifying the exposed flesh and raw sex. But this release has the edge on the competing EMI DVD...by being true to the work's shattering, subversive spirit.
Toronto Star - John Terauds
In this raw, raunchy 2006 production from Amsterdam, the Nederlandse Opera plays up the grit and grimace factor with a powerful cast led by Eva-Maria Westbroek as Katerina.
