In Season 5 (1979) Compo (Bill Owen), Clegg (Peter Sallis), and Foggy (Brian Wilde) continue their gentle hijinks in the picturesque village of Pennine up in the Yorkshire Dales. The adventures this time around includes Foggy taking Compo and Clegg to see a piece of history -- the Steam Preservation Society's reopening of an old railway line. However, Compo and Clegg's energy only go so far when Foggy is in the grip of another enthusiastic ambition. Meanwhile, the trio does not have the monopoly on quirkiness when Sid (John Comer) and Wally (Joe Gladwin) are seen creeping around the woods with bedding rolls.

I find watching the somewhat miss-matched threesome in this series to be a wonderful way to unwind, relax and have many good laughs. It never fails to revive my spirits by taking me back to days of youth filled with good friends, careless rambling and impromptu activities. What fun!
This series is a laugh a minute high jinx of 3 "mature" friends. I love the writing, characters, adventures placed in such a picture perfect setting. Bravo Roy Clark. Will buy any DVD that comes on the market, I love them
