Barnes & Noble - Christina Urban
The third spin-off in the long-running Law & Order franchise after Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Trial by Jury lasted only 12 episodes during its 2005 broadcast run. Whether that short life was due to L&O overload, creator Dick Wolf’s decision to deviate from the original formula, or some other factor, it remains a solid and superbly cast procedural. Rather than following its predecessors by showing the police investigation before moving on to the eventual trial, Trial by Jury focuses strictly on judicial procedure, along with the preparation and strategies necessary to make the case. Former Frasier star Bebe Neuwirth plays Tracey Kibre, and ex-Third Watch cast member Amy Carlson portrays Kelly Gaffney, two assistant district attorneys taking on Manhattan's worst. Assisting them with fact finding is Investigator Hector Salazar Oz's Kirk Acevedo, and the mother ship's Jerry Orbach as Detective Lennie Briscoe. Unfortunately, Orbach was in failing health he died in December 2004 and was able to appear in only two episodes. Replacing him for the remainder of the series was Gilmore Girls' Scott Cohen as Detective Chris Ravell. Rounding out the cast is Fred Dalton Thompson, Law & Order's hard-nosed D.A., Arthur Branch. The DVD is an especially welcome addition to the L&O library: Extras include the excellent SVU episode, "Night," which crossed over to TBJ in "Day," as well as deleted scenes and featurettes. The best news, though, is that the box set offers the series’ very last episode, "Eros in the Upper Eighties," which never aired on NBC.

    Trial by Jury

Not as good as the original or SVU but the epsiodes are well written and it was an intersting twist to the old law & order story. I would recommend this to any Law & Order fan
