That rare breed: A CLEAN (and very funny) Romantic Comedy!

Like last year's "Confessions of a Shopaholic," Leap Year is a type of movie that comes along only too rarely: a clean and funny romantic comedy. The funniness doesn't come from risque innuendo or raunchy dialogue but from old-fashioned situational comedy and intelligent and humorous dialogue. Sure, the script has lots of cliches but it's SUPPOSED to be that way--and it works. The pro-marriage message is wonderful and to be applauded. Amy Adams is hilarious and Mathew Goode and the rest of the cast do a great job. Add to that beautiful Irish scenery and a lovely orchestral score, and what more could you ask? Most importantly, your kids (preferably 10 and older) can be nearby and you won't have to shut their eyes or ears--a rarity these days.

"Leap Year" makes MY heart leap---just a little :)

This new film with Amy Adams and Matthew Goode was an absolute dream for me. I love just about anything "chick flick-y" that has come out in the last fifteen years, and this one made my top ten. Let's face it, ladies---Matthew Goode was indeed "goode eye candy" for this gal. The acting was nice, the plot was a little thin, in fact quite predictable and is formulaic of today's Hollywood writing pool. There was enough breathtaking sceneries to sink your teeth into that the actors at times, became background props! The character of Amy Adams (Anna) was sweet, if not a bit shallow at times. I think that they could have developed her lines and her character a little better, but instead they turned her into a typical whiny American girl out on a European jaunt. Matthew Goode's character was a little flat too in the beginning, in fact I think that the writers were trying to develop his character into something of a broody, cynical guy who just doesn't like women anymore...kind of like a flat, broody Mr. Darcy... :( sad! Anyway, they fight, they fall in love, and they go their separate ways--each one not knowing that the other is pining away for the other (confusing but like I said, it's hollywood dramedy). The end is sweet and just tender--not too sugary, I loved it because it didn't need to have sex to be a good film. It was good, clean fun! The innuendoes were enough to keep my stomach tied in knots and my funny bone laughing at all the right moments. If you like romances, especially ones that don't have all that lusty sex in it, you'll definitely enjoy this. It'll remind one of the old movies with Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable..."It Happened One Night", just adorable!

    Must see

I bought this not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. It's a hilarious feel good movie, and better than the big budget, heavily advertised blockbusters.
