Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Preschoolers will be "ribbeted" by this animated music program featuring amphibian siblings Leap, Lily, and Tad. The popular LeapFrog characters want to help their dad pitch a talking alphabet book to his boss, Mr. Websley. But everything isn’t ducky. A disheartened Tad thinks he is too young to learn the alphabet and help with the presentation. But Professor Quigley gives Tad a guided tour of the Letter Factory, where, to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell," he learns the sounds each letter makes. From digging "d" and vibrating "v’s" to catching "z’s," visual representations add to the phonics fun.

I am an assistant preschool teacher, and my class just adores this video. It has taught them all of the sounds, they adore singing along with it, and I must say, so do I. I highly recommend this as a learning tool for introducing letters. 3 & 4 year olds will love it.

This is a very good educational tool. It's musically fun, helps children learn their alphabets and the sounds of alphabets. Go Leap Frog!!!!!!!

My son is very behind on communication and at just over 2 barely talks, but he can tell me every single letter of the alphabet thanks to this video! Seriously, get it! You won't regret it one bit!

This is an outstanding product, my grandson 18 months old is now pointing out letters on T-shirts and posters and saying what they are. I was amazed the first time I saw him point out a letter and say it.

I bought this for my 4 year old son. I was already working on letter recognition and sounds. I honestly thought I'd still have to teach him but he DVD would be an extension to what I taught. Well, I was wrong! My son watched this DVD during our commute to daycare "and work" every morning. In 2 weeks he knew all the sounds to every letter. It was amazing how he just began calling our letter sounds everywhere we went.

This is a fun video that has a plot, centers around a nice frog family, discusses the entire alphabet, and associates each letter with its sound. I bought this because it was recommended by two moms with kids a little older than mine who swore it taught their children the alphabet. My son is two years and three months. We've had it about a month and he loves watching it and does show an increase in letter recognition since watching it. It's short, about thirty minutes, which is convenient when I want him distracted with something educational for just a little bit (e.g. so I can take a shower, cook dinner, sweep the floor, etc). Definitly in our top five DVDs right now.

I learned of this DVD while doing my Student Teaching at an elementary school. I worked with ESL students and this DVD helped them out a lot. I recommended it to my mom for her students. She then recommended it to her students. Those who purchased it learned their letters and sounds right away. Then it was recommended to other teachers and the administration. Everyone who has watched this DVD loves it. It's educational and fun. Last week my mom was passing by the office of the assistant principal, and she heard her singing the little songs from the "Letter Factory." So it's fun for everyone. I highly recommend this DVD.

I had heard about this video from many of my friends and I have to say that all the good reviews from them were spot on. This video is catchy and cute and does a VERY good job of teaching kids their ABCs as well as the sound of each letter. I find myself singing all the songs with my 2 year old and he is now saying his ABCs incredibly well as well as sounding out the letters just as they do in the video. It is a great learning tool and easy to watch over and over...which is key for us parents. :)

My son was given this DVD for his 3rd birthday, and I was amazed at how quickly he learned all the sounds taught for each letter--just one week! He absolutely loves it, and asks to see it constantly. It works well because it uses a catchy song to teach the phonic sounds. The DVD utilizes both visuals (jumping 'J's, karate-kicking 'K's), as well as memorable ways to remember the sounds a letter makes (a monstor scaring the 'A', making him say 'Aaaaah', and the letter 'I' learning his sound by having goo poured on him-- 'iiigh'.) Excellent!

I got this for my 3 1/2 year old grandson. He wants to watch this over and over. He will go through all the letters and their sounds while riding in the car and sing each letter's verse. He he has actually been teaching his father phonics, something educators strayed away from when his Dad was learning to read.

My 3 1/2 year-old daughter was stubborn about learning her letters, but I bought this dvd and within three days, she knew all of the letters and the sounds they make. She wants to watch this dvd over all others. I highly recommend this product.

I got this video for my 2 year old, who was fascinated by it. In just a couple weeks (he watched it a couple times a week), he knew all of his letters. Even before he turned 2 1/2 years old, he was able to name any letter and tell me the sound it made. He is naming letters everywhere: on boxes, signs, in books... We are starting to watch the Word Factory now.... I expect we'll be reading before long! As a mom and a physician, I already loved Leap Frog products, but now I am an absolute fan.

I bought this in VHS format for my three year old niece and she loves it, in one week she knew almost all the letter sounds, I was amazed at how much she learned. I sing it with her and she doesn't want to stop, even her one year old brother loves to join in. Her mom has purchased other phonics videos and said this is the best she's seen. I highly recommend it because it is humorous and made phonics fun. I ended up buying the DVD version for my five year old and he loves it too, the DVD has an extra feature to test your youngster.

My two year old son LOVES this video! After watching it for a week he is already remembering the letters and the sounds they make. He still doesn't kow them in order but he will just start saying them. I would highly recommend this video to any parent. Since buying this video we have also purchased the Math Adventure to the Moon movie and he loves this one too.

I bought this for my son when I saw it on sale. I had no idea he would cry to see it over and over again. He sings along with the song and is saying different sounds all day. He can point to the letters and tell anyone what they are. I will definitely be buying more leapfrog products!
