PREPARE TO HAVE YOUR SKULL BLOWN OUT!!! If you don't mind a little cream in your jeans, buy this disc! Incredible, amazing, spine tingling, love it. I used to own the DVD and the new HD DVD re-master blows this away. Yes, this does have Dolby TrueHD surround sound. You can hear Jimmy Page through all four speakers separately in Dazed and Confused. The original DVD does not have true surround sound unlike the HD DVD. You must buy it and hear it for yourself. Don't assume it will sound the same because it doesn't. Very sharp reproduction, a minimal amount of dust, and looks and sounds like you have been sucked into a time warp back to 1973 in Madison Square Garden. Also includes four extra songs, Celebration Day, Misty Mountain Hop, The Ocean, and Over the Hills and Far Away. Feels like you are really there. It gave me chills, it is so good. Did I mention I'm a fan? LOVE THESE GUYS!

Bloody Awful

This masterbatory excursion into film shows Led Zep at their meandering, sloppy, and pompous peak. It's perfomances are near unwatchable and the filmed fantasy sequences are absurd. This is not Zeppelin at their finest by any stretch. If want to catch the band at the height of their powers, pick up the dvd simply titled "Led Zeppelin". The performances on that collection blow SRTS away. Unless you're a completist, don't bother buying this disk.

Led Zeppelin

This piece is a well developed accurate portrayal of the life, style, and inspiration Led Zeppelin gave to the musical world. Its ten minute long solos and heavy metal origins recall what the band and era were really about. The sub-plots in this film may seem confusing and unnecessary at first, but tie the film together in the end. The story lines staggered in between songs bring back memories of the band's members' lives, and portray the psychedelic era in Europe. Although Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, I can impartially say this is an outstanding film and a MUST SEE for classic rock fanatics.

Excellent concert film!!!

This is a great concert movie! At first I just expected a concert, but I was surprised with the whole little fantasy bits of each member (it was kind of trippy!) But overall, it was great! Best songs on the movie were 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Whole Lotta Love', 'Heartbreaker', 'Dazed and Confused', and 'Since I've Been Loving You'.

A great combination of visual effects and music

Overall a great film by zeppelin, incredible images that projected the imagination of each musician. Like the dvd there isn´t one member who outstands the other, all are great. Thats what makes this group one of the best of all time. It´s not good to criticize what isn´t known. For me there woudn´t have been any zeppelin without any of the four specially Robert Plant, and then all the rest.

I was there

I was at the Garden for the filming. Some of the footage is also from 2 other venues. The reason is that during one song (I believe it was Whole Lotta Love) a fan jumped on stage. A security person moved in to remove the fan. Robert Plant pushed the security guy off the stage. At that point about 50 fans climbed up on the stage. Everyone was dancing and jumping and then suddenly the stage started to give way. Rodies were grabbing equipment, fans jumping off the stage, house lights come on. The band didn't stop of miss a beat. This was near the end of the show, so they finished their set. Wish they left it in the movie. Does anyone else remember this? A GREAT concert and a GREAT movie. Yes, this was released as a movie.

Zeppelin coming into their peak

This is an excellent video for those who were too young or not fortunate enough to have captured this magnificent Band live on tour. Having attended the shows highlighted here I was disappointed by the exclusion of The Ocean, Over the Hills and Far Away, Heartbreaker, and Black Dog; (the latter two appear briefly in the movie) all of which were played at the shows. However, in the live sequences the band's and audience's energy level can clearly be seen. There seems to be some minor difficulty with the audio synching on some of the tracks. I did not notice this on the tape version I own, only the DVD so it could be an error in transfer. All in all, this is well worth the cost of the disk as it captures a legendary group entering it's peak period. I do not believe any of the group members were involved with the transfer to DVD. Hence, there's not much more than was on the original tape. Hopefully, with the release of the upcoming live footage slated for later this year, all errors here will have been corrected. Still the definitive Led Zeppelin video on the market.

Rocknrolltilyapuke!

Good document of maybe the most important band of the 70's. The recording was just adequate, even considering the period. Some of the ancillary footage showing ''life on the road'' was interesting; the little dramatic set-pieces were sorta hokey, but they could have been a lot worse. Jimmy Page was WASTED; I'm surprised he could play as well as he did, which was very well. Gotta have this one for your collection.

A Superb Piece

A great example of what Led Zeppelin was all about during their times. Considered to be the only live footage available to the general public, this concert gives you some of their very best tracks while entangling great visuals and story lines. It is said that Robert Plant is heading a project to release more live concert footage on DVD at the begining of 2003? ''The Song Remains the Same'' does the job of portraying the band for those for people like me who wish they WERE 17 at the time and had the opportunity to experience the most talented and instumental rock quartet of all time. Hopefully the new footage will lend more in the way not-so-main-streem tracks...

I saw this concert 15 years ago when I was 16 years old. Now for my 31 birthday I bought it for myself as a present. If you love Led-Zeppelin you'll love this concert. I highly recommend it!

Outstanding

I think that the film was great because it was zeppelin.But also becuase it is the only one there is. They were the best!

Zeppelin

great video, though not one of their best performances. Jimmy Page needs to come out with a video of Zeppelins performace that incorporates all the POWER, MYSTERY and HAMMER OF THE GODS such as the 1975 Earls Court Concert.
