I have the original recording, the symphonic recording and the 10th anniversary. This one holds its own. Jean Valjean is good, but not as good as Colm Wilkinson. Javert, Epoinine and Fantine are wonderful. I caught the second act on PBS last week and ordered the dvd. I didn't realize it was Nick Jonas as Marius till it arrived. Yes he is milktoast, and so is the actress who plays Cosette. But that suits the characters. He does rush the lyrics at times. I will say, however, not knowing who he was, I thought his version of "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" was amazing. It felt real.
The real bonus on this DVD is the encore with the original cast.

This production of Les Miserables is quite good. The set and lighting are both phenomenal, and the majority of the cast is very strong. Personal favorites of mine include Alfie Boe ("Jean Valjean"), Ramin Karimloo ("Enjolras"), and Norm Lewis ("Javert"), whose rendition of "Stars" is the best I've ever heard.
Yes, Nick Jonas is quite weak, especially when pitted against his fellow ABC rebellion students, but he does fairly well and his performance of "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" was much, much better than I expected. While the 25th Anniversary may not have been as strong as the 10th Anniversary, it was well done and I highly recommend it.

I watched this for the first time on YouTube a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with the production. Since then, I've watched it many times. When I went to watch it again, I found it had been blocked . So, I bought the DVD. I can't wait for it to arrive.

Now, you can't go wrong with Les Mis, but this is just superb. The cast is AMAZING, some of the best Les Miserables performers EVER. I know Nick Jonas has a kind of bad rap for doing this, and overall his singing is pretty good, though his acting could use a whoooooole lot of work. However, Alfie Boe, Norm Lewis, Matt Lucas, Lea Salonga, Katie Hall, and especially Samantha Barks all did gorgeously. I can't watch this without tearing up! Long live Les Mis!!

Disappointed in the casting of Nick Jonas as Marious. His voice just isn't strong enough and was really a let down in an otherwise wonderful performance.
