Lilies

Overview

Wolfe Video's first DVD, Lilies, shows that even a low-budget film can get a decent treatment. The video quality is surprisingly good. The colors, no doubt due to the way it was filmed, are a bit muted, though there are times where the colors are very true. There aren't any noticeable distracting elements, such as grain or alaising. Unfortunately, the image is shown only full frame, but was most likely filmed in a ratio of 1.85:1. Needless to say, the disc is not anamorphic. The sound is no doubt a product of a ...

The sound is no doubt a product of a limited budget. The disc has a stereo track in both English and French, and while it's always nice to see a full 5.1 track on any disc, it does not heighten the experience on this one. To the disc's disadvantage, Wolfe hasn't added any subtitles. As for extra material, this disc isn't exceptional. Only a trailer and a preview of another film directed by John Greyson are included. It would have been nice to at least see some biographies of the cast and director to better understand the filmmakers. Lilies is a good film, and at least in respect to picture quality, Wolfe has released a good disc.

    I've ALWAYS loved this movie!

I'm so glad I finally got this movie in DVD format. I've been in love with it since I saw it at a pittsburgh film festival. It's wonderful and a MUST see!

    Gorgeous, Astonishing Film

This expertly crafted film seamlessly weaves a tale of past and present with superb acting and magnificent sets and location shots. The story is gripping and the characters are multi-dimensional. A must-see, award-winning gem.
