Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Happily, Lilo & Stitch 2 recaptures some of the magic -- missing in Stitch: The Movie -- that made the original 2002 film one of the most surprising, satisfying, and successful Disney animated films of the new millennium. In this direct-to-video sequel, Lilo’s “ohana” (family) has been extended to include a more domesticated Stitch, his once-evil creator, Jumba (voiced by David Ogden Stiers), and one-eyed earth “expert” Pleakly (former Kids in the Hall member Kevin McDonald). As for Stitch, his “goodness level is extra high.” So why is he plagued by nightmares of running amok and raining destruction on Lilo’s Hawaiian home and community? Meanwhile, Lilo seeks inspiration for the upcoming May Day hula competition that her late mother won when she was Lilo’s age. Dakota Fanning caps her career year (War of the Worlds, Man on Fire, Hide and Seek) with her spirited vocal performance as Lilo. Tia Carrere reprises her role as Lilo’s overwhelmed older sister, Nani, who struggles to keep her harried household together. Lilo & Stitch 2 is a feast for the eyes, with its lush watercolor backgrounds. Musically, Elvis-lovin’ Lilo summons the spirit of the King in three good-rockin’ tunes, “Stop, Look and Listen,” “I Need Your Love Tonight,” and “Rubber Neckin’.” There is genuine emotion (Lilo is the only girl without a mother to help her prepare for the competition) and genuinely funny moments (a still photo montage of Lilo's smackdown of her trash-talking nemesis). A climactic E.T. moment for an apparently doomed Stitch goes on a bit too long, and may disturb youngsters. But that’s a minor glitch for this heartwarming celebration of family. Thankyou verymuch!

A Must for any Stitch fan

Not being a hugh fan of the second movie but obsessed with the first, this one is a great follow up. I recommend it to young and old.
