Overview

For years, scholars have debated the nature of the relationship between surrealist painter Salvador Dali and poet Federico Garcia Lorca; director Paul Morrison's Little Ashes delves into their personal interaction and their acquaintanceship with Spanish surrealist filmmaker Luis Buñuel, with whom Dali made L'Age d'Or and Un Chien Andalou. In 1922 Madrid, bohemian lifestyles are flourishing -- from the arrival of jazz music to the en vogue teachings of Sigmund Freud. As the tale opens, Salvador Dali Robert Pattinson is only 18, but his dreams of artistic glory lie poised in front of him; his outré personality and social attitudes soon draw the full-fledged attention of two from the in-crowd -- Lorca Javier Beltrán and Buñuel Matthew McNulty. For a temporary period, the three become the most "in" clique in all of Spain and find themselves virtually defining the currents of modernism; however, Buñuel then leaves for Paris, and Salvador and Federico are thrust together even closer than before -- so close that one night, their relations suddenly cross the line from platonic friendship to something far more intimate.

    Enlightening, Inspiring, Exceptionally Beautiful!!!

Little Ashes is a truly moving depiction of several of the great writers and artists of the era. It is exceptionally interesting since it was basically portrayed at the time of their lives when their talents and friendships were developing. Set in a time of near political chaos proved to have a dramatic affect on their lives. The young actors were perfectly cast for their roles giving the movie an innocence that comes across through the eyes of youth. It follows historical facts closely and accurately portrays a believable story in a beautifully made movie. I would recommend Little Ashes to anyone who has enjoyed the Art, Prose, Poetry or Movies of Dali, Lorca and Bunel.

I would recommend this to anyone! Beautiful!

This movie accurately depicts the life of all the peoples lives, and the acting is absolutely captivating. If the characters were melancholy, you would feel the same. I had not expected the movie to turn out as well as it did, but I was wrong. And I'm glad. You must watch it

Enlightening View into the life of Salvador Dali.

This movie was better than I expected. The actors did a tremendous job in their interpretations of the characters. I helped my daughter with a research paper on Salvador Dali two years ago and this was very true to form. WELL DONE.
