Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Little Einsteins is a classical gas. Blast off with the kiddie quartet -- conductor Leo, singer Annie, musician Quincy, and dancer June -- as they embark on a trio of musical learning adventures from the Playhouse Disney interactive preschool series. In "How We Became the Little Einsteins - The True Story," the children board Rocket for their inaugural mission to find their trusty plane a home. In "I Love to Conduct," they follow a bald eagle that has unwittingly snatched up Leo's prized baton. In "Rocket Safari," the Little Einsteins round up a menagerie of Africa's biggest animals to extricate Rocket from a tight squeeze. This series is noteworthy for its visually arresting blend of animation styles, classical music soundtracks (each episode features a single composer and a recurring theme, such as "Flight of the Bumblebee"), and replications of significant paintings. The children also identify any historical and geographical landmarks they pass along the way, from the canals of Venice to the geysers of Yellowstone National Park. All of this combines to make Team Up for Adventure a performance worthy of multiple encores.
