    Beautiful production, but short on visual clarity

    Great story, well told, fine performances by Irons and Gambon. But the film is not transferred clearly to the DVD and will not look very crisp on a newer TV or monitor.

    Dava Sobel's short book, from which the film is adapted is brilliant, a wonderful alternative to the usual reading credits titles our high schoolers typically get. For science, for history, for inspiration ... a four-hour, DVD block in classes, an absorbing read outside of it.

    Stay the course

    This is the best when it comes to History and a great story. Riveting and brings history to life. A sure must to add to your collection. Worth every penny.
