Overview

The aftermath of a devastating explosion results in more reality-bending experiences for the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 in the sixth and final season of ABC's groundbreaking series. The stellar cast includes Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Emerson, and more. Blu-ray features include bloopers, deleted scenes, audio commentaries, and a deeper look at the secrets and history of the island.Part 1 of 2. The sixth (and final) season begins aboard Oceanic Flight 815, which encounters rough air on the way to LAX. In the jungle, meanwhile, the dust has cleared from the nuclear explosion. "You blew us right back where we started," Sawyer fumes, "only Juliet's dead." Then Kate hears something in the hatch's wreckage. Inside the Tarawet statue, Locke orders Ben to the beach, where he sees Locke's corpse. And back inside, there's something different about Locke. ~ Paul DroeschConclusion. At LAX, Kate runs into Sawyer and Claire (Emilie de Ravin), Jack and Locke encounter baggage problems, and Sun and Jin have difficulties with U.S. Customs. In the Tarawet statue, Ben confronts the Locke-like figure, who confronts Richard. In the jungle, Jack, Kate, Jin and Hurley arrive at the temple with the dying Sayid. And at the hatch, Sawyer presses Miles to communicate with Juliet to find out what she had wanted to say just before she died. "It worked," Miles tells him. ~ Paul DroeschSawyer escapes from the temple and Kate leads a search party to find him, joined by Jin. Back at the temple, the captors "diagnose" Sayid ("There's a darkness growing in him," Jack is told). And in L.A,, Kate escapes from the airport after commandeering the taxi occupied by Claire. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, the Locke Monster seeks out Sawyer to join him in his mission, while in L.A., Locke suffers a repercussion from his trip to Australia, but receives a helping hand from a familiar face. ~ Paul DroeschAt the temple, Hurley tries to persuade Jack to accompany him on an ill-defined mission at Jacob's behest. In L.A., Jack has difficulty communicating with his teenage son (Dylan Minnette). And in the jungle, Claire rescues Jin and tends to his wounds, but he sees a hardness in her he hadn't experienced before. ~ Paul DroeschAt the temple, Sayid confronts Dogen. Later, he confronts the Locke Monster as well. In L.A., Sayid visits Nadia (Andrea Gabriel) and his brother (Anthony Azizi). And in the jungle, the Locke Monster sends Claire on a mission to the temple. Her stipulation before she agrees: "I want my son back." ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, Ilana learns that it was Ben who killed Jacob. And in L.A., Dr. Ben Linus, a high-school history teacher who wants to be principal, gets inadvertent help from his star student, Alex (Tania Raymonde), and assistance from science teacher Leslie Arzt (Daniel Roebuck) as well. Back on the island, Ilana tells Sun that she (or Jin) is among the six "candidates" to replace Jacob; and Richard Alpert has a request for Jack and Hurley. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, the Locke Monster sends Sawyer on a mission to Hydra Island, where he makes a grisly discovery. The Locke Monster also explains what happened at the temple; and Claire confronts Kate over Aaron. And in L.A., James Ford partners with Miles, who fixes him up with a blind date. Miles also learns to his chagrin that Ford had made a secret trip to Australia. ~ Paul DroeschOn the beach, Richard Alpert makes a startling announcement to Jack, Sun, Hurley, Miles, Frank Lapidus and Ilana about the island. Flashbacks then reveal how he got there. Elsewhere, Jacob visits Ilana in a Russian hospital and gives her an assignment. "This is what you have been preparing for," he tells her. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, Jin and Sun continue to search for each other, but Widmore's forces capture Jin. At LAX, Jin is cleared by Customs, but the money he was to deliver for Mr. Paik is confiscated. Jin and Sun then check into separate rooms at an L.A. hotel. Back on the island, Locke monster heads to Hydra Island. "I got an errand to run," he tells Sayid. ~ Paul DroeschDesmond (Henry Ian Cusick) awakens and discovers, to his horror, where he is and how he got there. "The island isn't through with you," Widmore tells him. In L.A., Desmond, an international tycoon's fix-it man, arrives from Sydney on Oceanic 815 and is given a difficult "babysitting" chore. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, Sayid brings Desmond to the Locke monster's camp; and Ilana plans a Hydra Island raid, but before they set out, Michael (Harold Perrineau) appears in a vision to Hurley. "I'm here to stop you from getting everyone killed," Michael says. In L.A., mental patient Libby (Cynthia Watros) introduces herself to fast-food magnate Hugo Reyes, and tells him that they had met before. Later, Hugo gets romantic advice from fellow Oceanic 815 passenger Desmond. ~ Paul DroeschThe Locke monster's camp merges with Jack's ("I think we have some catching up to do," Locke says), and alliances are forged and broken. Meanwhile, Zoe shows up at the camp, and she doesn't come in peace. In L.A., Sun and Locke are brought to the same ER, and arrive at the same time; Desmond seeks out Claire when she enters the office building where her adoption agency is located; and Det. James Ford interrogates murder suspect Kate. He and his partner Miles also get a lead in the Keamy killing. ~ Paul DroeschThe Locke Monster, Sayid and Jack venture to Hydra Island to rescue the castaways held by Widmore. Their goal is to get to the Ajira jet, but Jack says that he's not meant to go. And in L.A., Jack tells Locke he's a "candidate" for surgery that could enable him to walk again. Also in the hospital, Claire seeks out Jack, who offers to put her up while she's in L.A. "We're family," he tells her. ~ Paul DroeschLocke's motives become clear in an episode tracing the early years of Jacob and the Man in Black, who are raised on the island by the woman (Allison Janney) who delivers them minutes after their shipwrecked mother (Lela Loren) washes up on the island. She names the firstborn Jacob. As for the second, "I picked only one name," she tells her midwife. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley set out in search of Desmond, but they meet Jacob. And Ben, Miles and Richard confront Widmore---then the Locke Monster---at the Others' compound. In L.A., Jack gets word that his father's body has been found, but the call is from Desmond, who also turns up again at Ben and Locke's school. Later, Alex and her mother (Mira Furlan) invite Ben to dinner. ~ Paul DroeschIn the series finale, the Locke monster continues his quest to escape the island---and destroy it---but Jack is equally determined to protect the island's light. Both need an assist from Desmond. Off the island, Desmond reconnects long-lost Losties and steers them toward an emotional reunion with Jack. ~ Paul Droesch
