Overview

The often-controversial story of one of the world's most popular entertainers comes to life in this made-for-cable biographical drama. Michael Jackson (played by Flex Alexander) grew up in the spotlight as a member of the popular R&B combo the Jackson 5, but his youthful success came with a price -- robbed of a normal childhood, as he grew to be a man, Jackson found himself increasingly eager to remake his life into the childhood he never had. In the 1980's, Jackson's solo career caught fire, and his album Thriller became the biggest selling album of all time, moving over 40 million copies and making him wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. But as Jackson struggled to repeat its success, his public image and reputation became increasingly eccentric, and as allegations of drug abuse, excessive plastic surgery, and inappropriate behavior with children were thrown at him, Jackson found himself trapped between his desire to entertain his fans and proving to the world that he was a normal and law-abiding man. Produced for the VH1 cable network, Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story was first aired in 2004 as court proceedings were scheduled to begin against Jackson, who had been accused of child molestation.

This movie was retarded... a complete insult to Michael and the MJFam, they portrayed Michael as some dillusional lunatic instead of his true genius and they used freaking pancake mix to show Michael white... PANCAKE MIX! >:///

..... you will be insulted by this movie and will feel insulted for MJ. this is a ridiculous display of sensationalism. why did they choose a comedian of this stature to play an icon like MJ. a no name actor would have been a better choice. someone that is serious. i feel they chose a comedian of 'flex's stature because they wanted to make a mockery of poor MJ. some may say "well, jamie foxx played ray charles", but he did it respectfully w/ humor in the areas that needed it. this movie is nothing like that one and this actor wasn't able to come across with the same vibe. if you want a jacksons or michael jackson story that is closer to authentic and serious in its approach to describe a legendary tale, check out An American Dream : The Jacksons Story. in the meantime, i would suggest youtubing this vid before spending your cash on it. once you get this home, you'll be pissed! i promise lol.

I have seen better High School productions. The person that played Michael was okay but this was not the DVD I expected it to be. It was thrown together and did not show Michael in a true sense. I returned the DVD and got my money back.

For true Michael Jackson fans this movie is repulsive. It's a joke, a jab at the king. Flex Washington, who I liked in one on one, should be ashamed of how he portayed Michael. The story was more about proving rumors and condeming him than actually about his life. DON'T BUY! DON'T BUY....... wait until it comes on t.v. and make your judgement. It airs on fx from time to time but definetly don't waste your money

Okay I've seen Man in the Mirror the Michael Jackson story and it was okay but I think it could have been better. The very first time I saw this t.v. movie I was expecting it to be like The Jacksons an American Dream but it wasn't. It only shows bits of when Michael Jackson was a child. And I thought it was very sad(but when you make a movie about Michael Jackson its going to be a sad movie.) I was disappointed that they didn't at least play some Michael Jackson music in the movie. They picked a handsome man who didn't look to much like Micahael and he also seems kind of girly!!! They also did put stuff out of order. It shows that Michael Jackson had black skin when he met Lisa Marie. That wasn't right because his skin was white by that time. I don't understand how some people thought it was good. In my opinion it was a little cheesy and sad. If you want to watch a Michael Jackson movie watch that mini series the Jacksons and American Dream. That was made the year I was born in 1992 and its better than this junk.

I saw this on television and it is the worst thing I have ever seen. Flex Alexander should be ashamed of his acting skills. It is a slap in Michael Jackson's face. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this DVD!!!!!!!!
