As the Great War rages across Europe, discord is sown even into the serene Yorkshire countryside. Simmering tensions behind the gates of Downton Abbey are beginning to come to a boil as the men and women of Downton do their part on both the front lines and the home front. What's more, the brutality and intensity of war seem to inflame more familiar passions -- love, loss, blackmail, and betrayal -- leaving family and staff alike to struggle in an ever-changing world, against a host of new demons. Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, and Elizabeth McGovern return to lead the stellar cast of familiar faces; and Maria Doyle Kennedy, Iain Glen, and Zoe Boyle arrive to add fresh intrigue to the second season of this Emmy Award-winning drama. The set includes the Downton Abbey Christmas Special, as well as several bonus feaures.

Masterpiece Theater at it very best! A "must see" if you love British history!

If you liked Upstairs, Downstairs, you will love Downton Abbey. A superb cast, excellent plot development, and wonderful scenery. I think season two is much better and far more intricate than season one. Enough people to love and hate, very poignant and emotional at times. Beautifully crafted and executed. I could not wait for the next episode. Illustrates how much class changes occurred after World War II, and that society would never be the same again, for good or ill. Films like this make me wish they could last for many years to come. It is so much better than what passes for television entertainment now. Why can't we have more quality programming like this all of the time?

How much do I love Downton Abbey? I'm addicted and obessed. Whil

How much do I love Downton Abbey? I'm addicted and obessed. While season two is not quite as engaging as season one (there are a couple of plotlines that go nowhere and are rather ridiculous and cringe-worthy)--overall spending time with the Crawleys is a wonderful experience. Lavish sets and costumes, brilliant performances and, forget Matthew and Mary, give me Anna and Mr. Bates! If you have not discovered Downtown--start--NOW. You won't regret it.
