One of the best shows on TV! It's like a turn of the century soap opera, but that desciption does not do it justice. This show has an incredible cast and is written to match the current events of the time.

Quite possibly the finest show I have ever seen on television.

Quite possibly the finest show I have ever seen on television. I am 66 years old and I have been watching TV since the mid 1950's; from The Lone Ranger, to All In The Family, to Roots, to Rich Man, Poor Man, to Dallas, to untold sporting events, etc. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be interested in a series like this. The acting, the sets, the costumes, the editing, the plot lines, are all perfectly done. There is never a lull in the show. With seventeen main characters it is amazing how well it flows. Some may call it a "sophisticated soap opera" and perhaps it is, but it is produced at such a high level it has become addictive. I can watch it for hours. I only came aboard with season three and now my wife and I are catching up with seasons 1 & 2 on borrowed DVDs. I know it will end one day and I can only hope that programs like this will continue to be shown on my local PBS station. This is GREAT television.

I am hooked!!!  I do hope there is a season 4.  When I first heard of the show I thought is would be a waste of time to watch, after the first five minutes I was addicted.  My family and I made a family event out of watching, right down to my four year old daughter.  I have seen all three seasons from start to finish and truly hope there will be a season 4.

Downton Abbey is an exceptional show. It honestly deserves 5 stars. I'm just being a bit petty right now because I don't like a turn one of the story lines has taken :)

Can I just say how obsessed I am with 'Downton?'

After a rather weak Season Two, 'Downton' really roars back with tight, swiflty moving storylines, and Dear God--just get ready for tons of tears. The really shocking choices the creators have made are going to set 'Downton' on a very new course in the future. Wrapping up this season leaves you just emotionally drained, but for one, my mind is buzzing with the possibilities of all the new directions the future of the estate, and the family, can take. With this season, 'Downton' is more than back on track.

Love this show, love the properness & the etiquette!! Everyone is so polite - something that is lacking in modern society.
Love how Thomas & O'Brian go out for a smoke & plot & scheme while doing so. They plot & scheme so much that I feel like I should be plotting & scheming something when I go out for a smoke :)
