Overview

As produced for the History Channel's documentary series The Wrath of God: Disasters in America, this program rests on the assertion that tornadoes represent the single most destructive natural force known to man - with winds in excess of 300 miles an hour that can reduce buildings to piles of ash, catapult vehicles through the air and yield one human casualty after another. In addition to dissecting the basic tornado threat itself, the film provides a panoramic overview of tornadoes over the ages, touching on such legendary cataclysms as the Natchez Tornado of 1840, the Tri-State Tornado of 1925, and the Plainfield Tornado of 1990. Throughout, it draws on extensive interviews with survivors and terrifying archival footage of the twisters in action.
