I think that this is one of the most compelling methods of telling our history in a way that resonates with society. The narrator is effective in presenting the back story, creating the tension and showing how central figures in American culture have shaped the nation. I cannot wait to see what this series does next. I am hopeful for the Women Who Built America....

I watched this on the History channel and adding this to my DVD collection. This was most intriguing as I was studying the history of public administration at the time this aired. It explained why the anti-trust laws came into effect and why big business and our government is the way it is now. Most intriguingy.

An increbibly offensive documentary. Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Morgan, and Ford had little to do with "building America." American was built by workers who labored with their hands. The subjects of this "documentary" did little more than get rich off of the labor of others while preventing workers from having a better life (Homestead Strike, Pullman Strike, Ludlow Massacre, Memorial Day Massacre, etc.).

Watched the series on TV and was enthralled. Much information was covered in it that I had not learned elsewhere. For this fact alone I would make me recommend the DVD collection. But I also need to factor in the sweeping panoramic immersive environment that is the vehicle for telling the stores and I can not help but give this five stars.
