Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide - Hans J. Wollstein
Perhaps the best of his initial batch of talking Westerns, Men Without Law positions Buck Jones opposite his favorite nemesis, the cold-hearted Harry Woods, one of the most hissable villains of all time. But as he occasionally would, Jones also inserted quite a bit of humor into the otherwise grim proceedings, and Men features one of the funnier scenes in early sound Westerns. Noting that the deputy sheriff is played by Laurel and Hardy regular Fred Kelsey, an imprisoned Jones proceeds to whistle the team's famous cuckoo theme song whenever Kelsey makes a move.
