Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
'Tis the holiday season, and all through the house, little children will gather to watch Mickey Mouse -- as well as Donald, Daisy, Minnie, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Pluto, Goofy, and his son, Max. This sequel to Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas offers five festive and heartwarming computer-animated seasonal stories that extol the virtues of friendship and family. In the first, Minnie and Daisy's friendship is almost put on ice when they compete for the spotlight in a skating show. Next, the incorrigible Huey, Dewey, and Louie break into Santa's workshop to add their name to his "good" list but redeem themselves in a selfless act on behalf of their Uncle Scrooge (voiced by Mr. Ed's Alan Young). Then Goofy's slapstick antics embarrass Max in front of his girlfriend, but she recognizes his good heart. An excitable, mall-stressed Donald has one of those Grinchian changes of heart in the fourth story. Finally, even Mickey lets holiday party preparations get the worst of him after Pluto accidentally makes a shambles of his decorations. Leave it to Santa to reunite the mouse and his dog. It is off-putting at first to see these iconic characters rendered in computer animation, but the heartwarming stories and age-appropriate comedy make this a welcome arrival for the holidays.
