Overview

The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in these contemporary British television mysteries. Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, the modern mistress of the English village mystery, the series stars John Nettles as the unflappable Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby, with John Hopkins as his brash young assistant, Sergeant Dan Scott. Guest stars include Oliver Ford Davies, Annette Crosbie, June Whitfield, Geoffrey Whitehead, and David Burke. The four mysteries included here debuted on Britain's ITV before jumping the pond for telecasts on A&E. Episodes on this set include: "Second Sight" (originally aired in the U.K. on January 23, 2005), wherein a mysterious death brings the detectives to Midsomer Mere, where villagers claim psychic powers; "Hidden Depths" (March 13, 2005), in which Barnaby and Scott's clues in the death of a local oenophile include a catapult, croquet, and Chateau Lafite; "Sauce for the Goose" (April 3, 2005), concerning a tourist's death in a relish factory; and "Midsomer Rhapsody" (October 2, 2005), which involves Barnaby linking a long-deceased local composer with odd events that crescendo in a murderous conclusion.

i AM A DEDICATED"GOOD" MYSTERY LOVER,AND NO ONE DOES IT BETTER THAN THE BRIT'S. THE'RE ACTING IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST,WRITING,PRODUCTION, EVERYTHING, AND THIS SERIES JUST DOESN'T QUIT. I DO MISS THE CRISPNESS OF "TROY" AND HOPE HE WILL PERHAPS "VISIT" IN THE FUTURE, BUT GIVE THIS NEW GUY A CHANCE. HE WILL GROW ON YOU. I BOUGHT SERIES 8,9 10 AND 11, AND THEY DON'T SKIP A BEAT. KEEP DISHING IT OUT, AND MAKE MY WINTER FUN.

I love this series. This set was no different. Beautiful scenery, daughter and wife in tow. The sargent gives a great performance and I was always waiting to see what he would try to pull next. What drove me nuts is only one episode per disc. Just not enough. That's it folks 4 episodes. Theyv'e put that many on one disc. They've got us where they want us and they are wheeling us in!
