This collection of four episodes from the first half of the show's seventh series airing from November 2003 to January 2004 begins with "The Green Man," wherein Troy makes his exit, but not before aiding Barnaby in investigating a strange discovery of ancient human bones -- and one skeleton of more recent vintage. Barnaby's new partner, Sergeant Dan Scott John Hopkins, arrives from London in "Bad Tidings" and is thrown right into a murder investigation. In "The Fisher King," Barnaby and Scott must hunt down a murderer who has taken lives with an ancient Celtic spear. And finally, in "Sins of Commission," a noted author is murdered the day before the town literary festival, and the investigative duo discover that the event is steeped in controversy, leading to a number of suspects.

Another season of wonderful English Murders

I have watched seasons 1-6 with great enjoyment, and although I have only watched one episode, season 7 promises to continue my enjoyment even though Sgt Troy is leaving. The rest of the cast remains and are just as delightful as ever, and I look forward to watching the new Sgt. in the rest of this season's episodes.

    Always love the Midsomer Murders!

I've never been disappointed with this series. The characters are very fun and easy to "get to know", the mystery is always engaging and never to gory to take away the fun for those of us who love mystery without all of the bloody details!

    NOT AS GOOD

I have loved the old Midsomer Murders-1-6. I was unsure about Barnaby's new sidekick, Dan Scott (John Hopkins). I have to admit I did not like set seven as well as sets 1-6. Not necessarily Sgt. Troy has been replaced. Dan Scott is an engaging character and sure to grow on you. Except of, "Bad Tidings" (which is worth the price of the set alone), I had a hard time following the plots of the other dramas. However I will admit if and when set eight comes out, I am uch a fan of John Nettles I will be first in line.
