A neophyte officer named Shiro Amada is given command of the Federation's 08th Mobile Suit Team and finds himself quickly immersed in exciting adventures that kick off this 1996 original video series, the longest running of all the Gundam series. Introduced as Shiro's sidekicks are Sergeant Karen Joshua, Corporal Eledore Massis, Sergeant Terry Sanders Jr., and Corporal Michel Ninorich. This release features the first three of 13 episodes.

Unlike the original Mobile Suit Gundam or Zeta Gundam, psychic "newtypes" and galaxy-shaking space battles are not parts of the story. Rather, The 08th MS Team spotlights life on the front lines with the average soldier.... Fans of Gundam and giant robots will be pressed to find many cracks in the beautiful sculpture that is The 08th MS Team. Matt Lopez

    This series comes highly recommended!

If you liked Gundam Wing, This series is just as good. And in my opinion it will only get better! After seeing the first volume of this series I dont think it will have the same complexities as Wing. In fact its a whole different set. If you were into Wing because of the awsome fight scenes, this series wont disappoint either! This is a must see series! As seen from the little stars above...^-^

    much better than space battles

im telling you space battles with mobile suits are great but when you see the fighting on the frontlines you will think twice before saying space battle is the most exciting

Mecha combat doesn't get much better.

This series really is a great one following a young Gundam pilot named Shiro as he takes command of a small squad. The story is well written, with excellent character development. I particularly like the way the story depicts both sides of the struggle as people, rather than good and evil. Also, the combat is very heartable :)
