While the Disney-Pixar Toy Story films and A Bug's Life revealed the secret lives of toys and insects, Monsters, Inc. confirms something that generations of children have always known: There really are monsters lurking in their bedroom closets! Even with a pastel universe of computer tricks at their disposal, the story is what really pushes a Pixar movie over the top -- what made the Toy Story movies so grand, and what left A Bug's Life short of greatness. Monsters, Inc. may burst at the seams with visual stimulants, but it's the delightful premise, fleshed out through a superior script, that helped scare up one of the largest opening weekends ever, paving the way for a monster-sized hit. That creatures of all shapes and textures live harmoniously in a candy-colored neighboring dimension called Monstropolis, scaring children for a living to harness the vital energy in their screams, is the jumping off point for an odyssey of jokes, thrills, and sentiment. Of course the monsters look great -- mostly cuddly types, in keeping things appropriately Disney -- but it's the factory where they work that really tests the animators' boundaries. Reminiscent of the alien-run Men In Black headquarters, the airy building full of blinking contraptions really comes to life in the jaw-dropping finale, which features a chase conducted on an assembly line of whizzing closet doors. Even while dragging just a tad in the second act, Monsters, Inc. never stops delving deeper into the giddy logic of its world. The vocal talent is all good, but the infant chosen to voice Boo (Mary Gibbs), the toddler who crosses over, trumps them all, emitting such tickling gurgles that she's even cuter than the monsters. Monsters, Inc. boasts an unexpected fringe benefit to parents: Once their children come to consider those shapes lurking in the shadows as fuzzy and lovable, a lot more of them may sleep through the night.

    Here kitty, kitty

    This animated tale about two "monsters" becoming protective and loving toward a little girl who is supposed to be terrified of them is a sheer delight. I remember its theatrical release, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and thinking: We all need a life-affirming movie like this, especially now. The charm has not worn off - and never will. If you get to Disney World, you've got to visit the comedy club based on this movie.

    The finest animated film in my collection

    Without question, this is the finest animated film in my considerable collection. Indeed, I would watch this in preference to most of Hollywood's dire output. I have read dozens of reviews of this film, some questioning the characters' motives etc. but for me this is a masterpiece. I have seen and own all of the titles often mentioned in the same breath such as as Finding Nemo, Ice Age, A Shark's Tale, A Bug's Life, Happy Feet, Toy Story etc. but for me, none have that ineffable beauty of dialogue and action as Monsters Inc. Others, such as Ice Age (first one) and Finding Nemo are very, very good but none can touch the sublime, Monsters Inc. I am particularly fond of the soundtrack, which, in places, especially Sully and Mike's walk to work, is very Wagnerian and utterly beautiful.

    THE BEST MOVIE ON THE PLANET!!!!!

    This is a good movie with a good climax and beginning and ending and middle!!!! its so good,i cant explain it. For details and full explanation,buy it and watch it. This movie with certainly explain itself. Noooooooooo....Duh! monsters inc. Is the best movie i have ever watched and its my favorite. I'm old and i love this movie! who says its a kiddy movie? its the perfect family movie for everybody!!!!! with a good sense of humor!

    You did it again, Pixar!

    Seriously, Pixar is the best movie studio on the PLANET. They make really great, creative movies. Whoever works at the studio are totally genius! Monsters, Inc. was so good and funny!! When I went to go see it in theaters, I didn't expect it to be so good... boy, was I wrong! This DVD is very good too... they probably put EVERYTHING you've ever wanted to know about the movie Monsters, Inc. They have trailers, tv spots, behind-the-scenes, art galleries, "If I Didn't Have You" music video, etc. It's a very fun movie, and the DVD is good too. I recommend it to every Pixar fan! :-)

    An Animation Masterpiece

    This film is absolutely stunning, it has great characters, especially the extremely adorable 'Boo', the animation is pitch-perfect, the story is fun and heartfelt, and the DVD has really great bonus materials. It's a wonderful movie for all ages.

    Best Computer Animated Movie!

    Monsters, Inc is my favorite computer animated movie, the characters look almost real and it is such a cute happy feel good story perfect to watch when you are sick or just feeling a little down!

    BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

    This movie is the best ever! I love it so much. From the character to the music to the graphics. I do not know what i liked best. I could watch this movie everyday and not get tired of it. I recommend this movie to all ages just because it is so cute. I love the little girl in this movie she made a perfect addition. Also the voices for all the characters fit just perfectly. I recommend this movie to everyone very highly, it will make you laugh, smile, and a maybe cry tears of joy.

    I cannot believe Billy Crystal turned down Woody in Toy Story!

    but I am glad he did, because he hits the mark on this one. Pixar has brought another wildly inventive concept to life through computer animation with a little help from Billy Crystal and John Goodman. Imagine this, the monsters hiding in your closet that you were always afraid of as a child actually have everyday normal jobs as power plant workers who are producing screams in children to harness it as a power source that runs their city Monstropolis. When Sully (John Goodman) and Mike (Billy Crystal) find out that a child has crossed over into the monster city a hilarious adventure begins as they work to return Boo to the human world. G

    'Kitty!'

    I love this movie everytime I watch it! I love the story of the 'top scarer' in a big industry in the town of Monstropolis showing a softer side to a little girl. This story shows how important love and friendship truly are and how you can accomplish anything when you have your friends by your side. I enjoyed watching how Sully and his partner and friend Mike try to think of ways to get rid of Boo. I loved the way Boo made her way into the hearts of Mike and especially Sully and she sure made her way into my heart. I will cherish this movie for years to come!

    Best Movie Ever!

    When I first went out to see this movie, I could hardly wait for it to come out. When we got it, we watched it nonstop. I watch it when I come home from school, and every Friday and Saturday night. Sulley, Mike, Randall and cast rock!

    Perfect

    Monsters Inc., starring the hilarious John Goodman and the equally hilarious Billy Crystal, is the story of James P. Sullivan (Sully) and his one-eyed pal, Mike Wazoski. One day, Sully accidentally lets a child, the most 'toxic, vile thing known to monsters' into the monster world. It is up to them to return the child, Boo, back home before she is discovered. I was amazed by the design of this film. The environment is incredibly crafted and the characters are unique and original. Another amazing part was Sully's fur, which moves like real animal fur with wind and movements. The music is catchy and upbeat, the plot is deep and competely original, and all the characters are loveable. Pixar and Disney hit the nail on the head with this classic. It is my favorite animated film of all time.

    regarding bo''s parents

    My family and i really enjoyed the movie and we would recomend it to any every one we know.The only thing is that my 3 year old crys at the end of the movie,reason for this is he asks me where is boo''s mommy....and that makes me cry too. any way just thought i''d mention it.

    SUPER MOVIE! One of Disney's Best!

    Superb story and animation. I fell in love with Boo! This story touches your heart! Great for the entire family! Billy Crystal and John Goodman are terrific! Better than Toy Story! Hope there is a Monsters, Inc. II!

    Wonderful movie for the whole family!

    I am a mother of a 2 year old and he loved it as well as my younger brother who is 22. I have to say that I am a fan of Monsters, Inc. It was wonderful to have a little over and hour of peace in my home!!

    Very humorous but should not be Rated G

    As an adult, I really enjoyed watching Monsters, Inc. I found it to be extremely humorous (you'll laugh each time you watch it); however, I was disappointed to see that Monsters, Inc was rated G. It should have been rated PG, as many scenes warrant parental guidance. There are different parts of the movie that can be frightening to small children. At least ten different scenes portray violence, one of which involves strangling. Language inappropriate for small children is used (i.e., ''you st-p-d, pathetic...,'' ''you id--t,'' ''j-rk,'' etc). The DVD came with a lot of interesting extras, such as how the movie was made. It is incredible! Pixar did an amazing job with the graphics of this movie.

    Greater then Great!

    I loved this movie. It is a movie that has humor for a younger child and a beautiful plot for even the adult! This movie can be watched by both kids and parents. I would recommend this book to any age.

    My Favorite Movie!!

    This is so sad to say but I'm 25 years old and I enjoyed this movie sooooo much that I had to go out and buy it!! It's not just cute it's also very family oriented and offers u a view of the monster world. I would definitly recommend this to everyone(young and old!)2 watch!
