Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Jeffrey Iorio
"This is the first time you’re meeting me," explains Lauryn Hill during her MTV Unplugged session. "Don’t think you met me before." That notion -- that we’re witnessing a performer's rebirth -- is as central to this project as it was to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, the multi-Grammy-Award-winning solo album in which Hill first laid bare her soul. Fusing a poetry-slam vibe with acoustic guitar accompaniment, Hill is emotionally raw and unbound, using the unplugged format to full effect. With meditations on topics ranging from spiritual redemption to the ills of the music business, she huskily delivers a message fans may not be ready for: It’s time for Lauryn to be herself. Precisely what this entails is unclear -- a further departure from her days with the Fugees is obvious, but a more stripped-down version of the singer is hard to imagine. There are moments, during the bossa nova-flavored "Just Want You Around," for instance, where she flashes the soaring, textured tones we remember from Killing Me Softly. More than anything, though, this is a new Lauryn Hill, an artist singing her way through an evolution instead of pausing to reflect on how much she's grown.

Rolling Stone - Barry Walters
Through it all, this tender renegade purposefully does what she's gotta do to keep her music sacred. The results are sometimes messy, but more often they're miraculous.

    The Real Revolutionary!!

This abulm is a classic from begining to end. A album that is personal, invites the litsener to look, think and feel out-side of his/her social, economical, emotional, political, psychological and spiritual boxes. It encourages, teaches and inspires the litsener to look at the 'Reality' we are living in this world. Lauryn Hill is true a Rebel, a True Revolutionary...her message is heavy but is the 'TRUTH'.

    A Beautiful Piece of Work

Lauyrn has shown that God graces is a beautiful thing that most people take for advantage. She acknowledges that it is God who gives and takes away. Most Artist these days do not really sing about reality, i mean a reality that is hard core and the truth. People want to live in a fansty world which they belive that they are truly happy, but are really deceiving themselves. We need peace of mind, because everything in the world is going down. God is soon to return and is the world ready?

I Got To Find Peace Of Mind

I really enjoyed the single I Got To Find Peace Of Mind because I can relate to the message that the song brings. I have been through alot just like Lauryn has. The album came out at the right time because I have grown up alot also.

''Fantasy is what people want, reality is what they need''

The above title is so true! I have to tell you readers that I was so taken with Lauryn's unplugged that wordfs cannot explain my full joy! Lauryn bravely addresses issues she has been dealing with in the last few years since ''Miseducation'' and what I see is a strong woman who has seen the ''light''. I think people in general are afraid of truth, and taking responsibility in general. I stick by Lauryn 100%. The new cd is therapy first and foremsot for Lauryn herself and in return it is a wake up call for the rest of humanity if we choose to heed here message. Being open and honest unplugged has become one of my top ten cd's of all time...just chalk filled with inspiration, love, and our basic human quest towards finding self- love above all the rest. As you can tell I truly adore Lauryn as an artist, a woman, and now as a messenger of truth and God...thank-you immensely Lauryn for your beauty ''inside and out''. Lauryn is definetely ''the conquering lion'' Openheartedly, Journey
