My Big Fat Greek Wedding: the little film that could. Everyone by now knows the story of this five-million-dollar film that went on to gross well over 200 million dollars. That being the case, why aren't we seeing a bigger release for this DVD? Not that it's a bad disc, it really isn't. It just seems there's so much more that could have been done for such a significant release. The image, which HBO has wisely included both 1.85:1 anamorphic and full-frame transfers, is a fairly solid presentation. Colors, while generally muted, come across nicely, while the darker scenes are dense and don't show any signs of breakdown. Skin tones are very warm, a real plus for this film. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track, is certainly adequate for this small romantic comedy. In other words, it's not going to test your sound system in any way. Still, the auditory elements are nicely translated to home video, with clear dialogue and a very pleasing quality. What is lacking with this title are a significant number of supplemental features. Other than some decent biographies of the cast is a commentary track from stars Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, and director Joel Zwick. This track is often "matter of fact," but has enough humor and anecdotes to keep it moving along. Vardalos and Zwick contribute more than Corbett, but each has plenty to say about their experiences. People tend to love or hate this film. Those that hate it will steer clear of it, while those that loved it will now have the ability to watch it over and over and over.

This is without a doubt the funniest movie ever, and I am a big comedy buff.
I haven't laughed out loud that hard in a theatre in a long time! Excellent movie!
This was a fantastic movie, but my favorite character is MICHAEL CONSTANTINE as the father, Gus Portokalos!! He was soooooo funny!!! I honestly think he should win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in this.
If laughter is the best medicine then this movie is percription strength. I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud in the theatre. Now I can do it in my own home. I'm stoked.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding is honestly the most recommended movie I've ever seen in my life. It's filled with the right humor at the right time. When I went to see a the theater I asked an employee- ''How long has this movie been out for''? She said ''EIGHT months''! I haven't heard of a movie that ran longer than that. If you have well lets hear about it.
Best movie that I have been to for many of years. The critics need to promote more movies like this one. It appears that the critics have been promoted to being brain dead for not even reviewing this movie when it forst came out.
There aren't many movies that can make me laught out loud. I can only count a few on my hand in all my 30 years of living. For that matter, there isn't much these days that can make me laugh outloud. Except the book, The Little Guide To Happiness. That book was hilarious and I didn't even expect it to be because it was a self help book. At any rate, I digress. I highly recommend this movie. After all, Laughter is the best medicine.
This had to be one of the best movies I have ever seen. I laughed from the minute it started until the end. I saw it when it first came out and before it was rated as one of the top 5 movies. I liked it so much, I saw it ''twice,'' and I enjoyed it even more the second time.
I've heard it called a ''chick flick'' and nothing could be further from the truth. This is everybody's flick! It has been a long time since I've laughed so hard.
wow!!! a very good movie i must say... although this seems like a copy of ''east is east...''
The best comedy I've seen in years. A delightful cultural tale that will make you laugh and cry all in one sitting. A must have for any DVD library! Best of all, its safe for the family!
This is the best movie I have seen and I go to alot of Movies each year and by far this is the best movie I've seen in the year 2002-2003 It is worth the money and gas to go see this movie.Don't be one of the VERY few who haven't seen this movie. You'll regret missing this Fantastic movie
It's one of the greatest movies I've ever seen not because of the performance or acting but because of its truth. I'm Ukrainian and I see my family in it. Some of my friends are Georgian and they see theirs families in their. Really, anybody from the eastern, southern or central Europe feels like it's movie about them.
If you had the privilege of growing up in any sort of European ethnicity, you will truly be able to identify with this. It brings back memories of when your grandmother meets one of your friends for the first time and she yells, ''Hello, honey...come and eat!'' Also, the part where the groom was taught to say certain Greek phrases so he could impress his future mother-in-law was hilarious. My grandfather actually did that to my poor mother (teaching her Hungarian no-nos)--much to my grandmother's chagrin! This movie is like a visit to Grandma's on Christmas Eve! What a riot!!!
Outstanding, funny, heartwarming. You'll want to see it again and again. Thats why I'm ordering the vhs
I saw this movie the first time with my husband and there was a guy in front of us laughing so hard we thought he was going to have a heart attack. We were laughing as hard. This was the funniest movie I have ever seen. I saw it a second time with a friend and I laughed just as hard the second time. She loved it too. Everyone should see this at least once! I am so happy it's available on DVD now, so I can watch it over and over!
We enjoyed the DVD immensely.
If you are from a big family or you've ever been around one, you'll love this movie. If you are neither one, this movie will make you wish you were. It's funny, it's heartwarming, it's touching and it's FUNNY. The last time I saw a movie that was this good was Fried Green Tomatoes. This is your mother speaking. Go. Laugh. Enjoy. It's good for you.
I saw the movie before anyone even knew about it. I really didn't know much about it. All I knew is that it's supposed to be funny. When I was told that it's not the typical Hollywood movie, meaning that there isn't any Oscar winning star, I was afraid I won't enjoy. I came with hardly any expectation and I must say, after all, that this is a prize winning movie. It has characters that you can identify with, also due to great acting. The humor is so refreshing and you find yourself laughing throughout most of the movie. The movie is about a Greek girl who is raised all her life to find a Greek husband. When you take an open minded girl, a stubborn father and a BIG and funny Greek family, you can't but not sit at the edge of your seat from excitement unless, of course, you fall out of it from laughter!
This is the best movie I have ever seen in my whole life!!!
ITS A GREAT MOVIE FOR ALL AGES REMEMBER ABOUT THE WINDEX WELL IT ACTUALLY WORKS IVE SEEN IT 5 TIMES AND I STILL WANT TO SEE IT CANT WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT ON VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
