Overview

This two-part box set from National Geographic offers a pair of thematically-related documentaries: Lost Gold of the Dark Ages and Secrets of the Lost Gold. Dark Ages relays the tale of an amateur explorer who used his metal detector to locate a thousand year-old gold cache worth over $5 million. The program then introduces the audience to the period of the Dark Ages from which the treasure came - an era when Christian and pagan tribes went head-to-head, vying for control of England. The second program in the set, Secrets, continues the story of the discovered treasure by posing questions related to the cache's origins and its original possessors, the Gold Saxon Warriors.
