Overview

For many small screen aficionados, the 1950s and 1960s brought about a 'Golden Age' of the western on American television. This compilation delves into that very period, with four classic western episodes, each pulled from a different NBC series. First on the program is an installment of The Virginian entitled The Executioners, that originally aired on September 19, 1962; it stars Jim Drury, Lee J. Cobb and Doug McClure, in the tale of a convicted murderer's son who turns up in Medicine Bow to confront a schoolteacher who refused to give his father an alibi. Next up is an episode of Wagon Train titled The Willy Moran Story, starring Ward Bond, Robert Horton and Terry Wilson; in it, one of The Major's old friends attempts to salvage his reputation as a lush by signing up to drive a wagon train to California. The September 16, 1965 episode of Laredo titled Lazyfoot, Where Are You (starring Peter Brown, Neville Brand and Burgess Meredith) finds Captain Parmalee sending his men out to find Lazyfoot and his cronies. Finally, the September 15, 1959 episode of Laramie titled Stage Stop stars Robert Fuller, John Smith], Hoagy Carmichael, Everett Sloane and Dan Duryea in the story of Bud Carlin's attempts to help a gunslinger escape from his jail cell.
