First off, people should know that this is not the DJ Qualls high school comedy "The New Guy." It is very different, and a good deal better. This is a very low budget comedy about a young man's first day at the office, and it slowly turns into a creepy workplace slasher movie. It never stops being a comedy, though. The comedic elements of the first half give way to a weird series of events in the second, some of them scary, some of them funny, some of them...well, just sort of unexplainable. The reason it works so well is because the lead actor, Kelly Miller, is so great that he manages to make you scared for him and laugh at the same time. The music is also pretty interesting. Much of it is classical and it gives the movie a unique feel very different from other low budget independent movies and other movies of the horror-thriller genre. Some scenes reminded me of "The Shining." Imagine that movie, with laughs. And a twist ending, of course.
