Overview

Oliver & Company comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.66:1. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while French and Spanish soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. Supplemental materials include a pair of animated shorts, three featurettes, a still photo gallery, and a pair of karaoke-ready songs, including the Billy Joel penned "Why Should I Worry?" This is a strong disc from Disney/Buena Vista that earns points for having extras that will appeal to both adults and children. This animated musical retells Dickens's Oliver Twist amongst animals in New York City, with Oliver as an innocent kitten who joins a gang of law-breaking dogs. When Oliver is adopted by a wealthy young woman, the gang's evil human owner hatches a kidnapping scheme to tap into the girl's fortune.
