This beautifully filmed story is riveting in its detail, and the heartbreaking ending foreshadowed from the very beginning. This is, in my view, the most important movie of this decade for the talent and bravery of the director, cast and crew, the story itself and the cinematography.

I was disappointed that nothing was explained in this movie. I would not want anyone to confuse the horrible things in this movie with Islam. :/

Made after the fall of the Taliban, this films captures the depts of Afgan soceity. It shows how women were treated by the Taliban, and how women never really had equal rights under the Taliban that were given to them by Allah as muslim women. The film is not like other films about a girl disguising as a boy where there is a happy ending, but the presents the problems of gender. It shows a government's cruelty to it's own people just becuase of their gender. American women had fought for equal rights, but Afgan women are fighitng for their lives.
