Shakespeare Will always be at the top of the list for the worlds most brilliant writers. His works are the most adaptable set of stories out there, usually there are no rules for casting and as long as it isn't in the future (A rule of thumb my theatre professor told us in scenic design class.), can be set almost anywhere you can dream of. So naturally, the cinematic world is perfect for showing it. Othello is definitely a powerful story that only a genius Like Shakespeare could make and this is by far one of the best films I have ever seen. Laurence Fishburne captures Othello perfectly, conveying his emotion, pain and agony in a way that is hard to match. But the show is made by the real lead/narrator, Iago. Iago is perfectly played By Kenneth Braungh and isn't a normal villain, he is a tactical monster that few men can comprehend, not relying on violence but rather he relies on the paranoia and trusts of others to ruin them in an attempt gain power. Braunagh as usual upstages the entire cast and makes every moment of this classic Tragedy a thrilling ride that you can’t stop watching. Leaving you wanting as much Shakespeare you can get a hold of. This film is as good as it gets and is a much watch for not just Shakespeare fans but anybody who loves thrillers.

It is a good movie and book!! But a 10th grade English class should not watch it w/o the teacher sending home permission slips sence the rating is R.

oh my god, this film is supreme. althjough not entirley following the old willy shakespeare's origional play, it is most worthy of the cream of sumyoungguy. The way the booming othello, is so full of joy, kicks, darkness, and the way desdamona is portrayed as the sweet inoccent, personally i like to go down the lesbian path with her and emilia
