    Paradise Road

I found this movie to be much more than I had expected. Based on a true story - really! Mostly high society women are captured by the Japanese, after their ship sailing them to freedom is torpedoed by the Japanese. This movie is a testament to the human spirit. They all have different ways of keeping their dignity alive in horrible circumstances. As always, Glenn Close delivers a superb performance. However, the other actors in this move are equally excellent, all supporting each other. There is a wonderful scene where one of the guards lets his "guard" down and we see his genuine human-ness. Memorable.
