Overview

After the release of his wildly successful and creatively groundbreaking album Graceland, Paul Simon set out on an international concert tour accompanied by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, and a number of the South African musicians who accompanied him on the album. The tour's triumphant stop in Zimbabwe was videotaped for later television broadcast and home video release, and this DVD replicates the content of the previous VHS edition of this material. The images have been transferred at full-frame, as originally intended, and the audio has been mastered in PCM Stereo. The program has been closed captioned, though there are no additional subtitles, and while the individual songs can be accessed on this disc, there are no bonus features or additional materials.

    more from this reviewer

Paul Simon's best concert tour, this one filmed in Africa. If you love the Graceland album, you will absolutely love the DVD performance

If you are not singing along or tapping your toe to this one....well....???

The only criticism is that the audio/video quality is not as great as something that was more recently filmed.

Integrating South African music with Paul Simon's music is exciting.

    The beat is enervating!
