Overview

A doctor dabbles in magical resurrection with horrific consequences in this supernatural thriller adapted from the novel by Stephen King. When Dr. Louis Creed Dale Midkiff and his family move from Chicago to an old farmhouse in rural Maine, their only concern is the busy highway that flanks their new home. Louis' family -- wife Rachel Denise Crosby, daughter Ellie Blaze Berdahl, and toddler Gage Miko Hughes -- soon meet kindly old duffer Jud Crandall Fred Gwynne, who introduces them all to the local attractions, including a pet cemetary built on the remains of a Native American burial ground. When Rachel and the kids head off to visit Louis' in-laws, Ellie's cat gets flattened by a truck. Jud counsels Louis to bury it in the old Indian portion of the cemetary; the next day, it returns from the dead, carrying with it the stink of the earth and a decidedly bad attitude. Shortly thereafter, Louis is tempted to use the cemetary's magical powers again when his son suffers a tragic accident. A snarling kitty, it turns out, is nothing compared to the horror of a little boy with no soul and a taste for scalpels. In addition to adapting his own novel for the screen, writer King appeared in a brief cameo as the minister presiding over Gage's funeral. Director Mary Lambert would return with Pet Sematary Two.

    VERY IMPRESSIVE

I was surprised after watching this movie becasue it was actually scary. I'm not used to saying that older horror movies are actually scary but this one is. I was very impressed by this. It had several very scary parts and it was very gory.

Much better and scarier than the book.

Im a huge Stephen King maniac, but i did not like the book. The ending was great but the rest was boring. But in the movie, it was awesome the whole way through.

A movie that wierded me out

After I watched this movie, it scared me that my name just happened to be RACHEL, and one of my best friends is named GAIGE. If you have seen this movie, then you know what I mean. I watched this movie one day with some of my friends, one of which was Gaige, and it scared us so much we're still talking about it. I don't know about you, but for me, it's kind of freaky watching some creepy dead girl screaming your name, and running at you through the tv. I think the moral of this movie should be watch your kid, and let the dead stay dead.

    Good movie, great book

A good adaptation of an excellent book. Lewis's character leaves something to be desired. Love the interpretation of Jud.

    Sometimes Dead is Better

Based on the greatest novel by Steven king's Pet Sematary, this movie is one of my favorite movie. It's a real horror movie, not so much nasty type movie but can scare you a lot. You can call this "The real well written horror movie" not only by the visual effects but for it's dramatical script also.

    Dead is better!

The novel Pet Sematary is now a movie with the screenplay from Stephen King himself. The movie is creepy and a spine tingler, you'll enjoy watching this movie!

    Stephen King movies usually stink...

...but this one is really great. I read the book too, and it's better but this movie still scares me.
